Today I learned
After Mrs. Nightfly had a doctor’s appointment we learned from our doctor that many if not most large practices, clinics, provider groups and hospitals will no longer offer telemedicine services to their patients if Trump follows thorough with not renewing rules put in place during the COVID pandemic.
They seem to be folding it in with remote consultations associated with Roe v Wade bans. What it means is if you’ve taken advantage of conducting a routine check-in with your Doctor if you’re traveling (or can’t travel) a Trump administration would forbid that. It appears standing on the necks of people seeking medical assistance when a local option is problematic won’t be the exclusive domain of promiscuous waifs. Harris has indicated she will let people continue with telemedicine health care activities.
You are certainly welcome to tut-tut this as “this will never apply to me” but there are tens of thousands of people who count on and appreciate the continuity of care it provides if you aren’t able make an in-person appointment.
The more you know…

This would also ruin telehealth for mental health services. And it's not just Better Help doing it; many offices provide it.

NEVER EVER COMPLY WITH FASCISM!!!
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Pretty sure we’ll need to get a cup and string for phone service at some point too. Make the Horse Great Again can’t be far off.Lester The Nightfly wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 11:28 pm After Mrs. Nightfly had a doctor’s appointment we learned from our doctor that many if not most large practices, clinics, provider groups and hospitals will no longer offer telemedicine services to their patients if Trump follows thorough with not renewing rules put in place during the COVID pandemic.

Re: Today I learned
I have seriously thought about buying FRS radios for me and my neighbor just in case these jackals cut down the grid and start attacking us, but maybe I am too paranoid. Even if I did, you can't outgun these people. I live right by city hall in a condo complex with seniors. We are sitting ducks. I have always had the feeling that I would die an untimely death. You can't outgun these people.

That the issue that hits home for me, but there are a lot of different kinds of circumstances where a telemedicine session may literally be the difference between life and death. Elderly welfare checks is an easy one that comes to mind.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 12:21 am This would also ruin telehealth for mental health services. BTW - GMRS radio is where it’s at.

If Trump wins, we can always traded howses(Canadian pronunciation). You can even say "a-boot" over here.

Re: Today I learned
My understanding is all these Covid era changes were implemented by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services not the president.
Is there some reason Joe Biden can't get/encourage "his" U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to extend those things due to expire?

It certainly sounds like even if he did renew them they would simply axe them.craig11152 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 11:10 am My understanding is all these Covid era changes were implemented by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services not the president.

Re: Today I learned
I’ll make this real simple for you. In about two weeks what Biden did/didn't/does/doesn't do amounts to a cup of warm spit. If you believe telemedicine services are valuable you should vote for Harris. If you don’t believe them to have value then you should vote for Trump. Capisce?craig11152 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 11:10 am My understanding is all these Covid era changes were implemented by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services not the president.

Re: Today I learned
I’ll make this real simple for you. The portions that are expiring are doing so on December 31. That has been known for almost 12 months. Joe Biden will be president until Jan 20. So if Congress doesn't come through with an extension they expire on Joe Biden's watch. Capisce?
If Joe does nothing, they expire under his watch, and if Trump wins, he is essentially off the hook if he doesn't push congress to act. Blaming Trump for something that happened 20 days before he took office is something only a far left nut job would try. Capisce?
The smart thing would have been to spend the last year working on an extension or a permanent fix through Congress. In either case if Biden had done that Trump can't undo something Congress passed. Capisce?

Re: Today I learned
But if Trump wins he probably gets both houses of Congress and any changes made would be undone on the orders of his administration… Capisce?craig11152 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 1:45 pm I’ll make this real simple for you. Since when do presidents get a lot of initiatives passed during a lame duck session?craig11152 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 1:45 pm I’ll make this real simple for you.
