What happened to Channel 7?

Unread post by GS3580 »

Boy has the mighty fallen. WXYZ, a once proud station, has seemingly fallen on hard times. The newscasts are unwatchable, the anchors seem bland, and the reporters are bland as well. I miss the days of Bonds, Lewis, Hodak, etc. where there was action in Action News. Now, the newscasts seem to be a shell of itself.

What happened to the ‘Big Channel 7,’ as it was called decades ago? What happened to the magnificent 7, the proud circle 7?

Scripps corporate dictating how the newscasts would be produced happened. It’s not Action News anymore either. Oh and it’s light years ahead of 62. If 62 is 25% of what 7 is now in 5 years CBS will call that a win.

Donald Trump… In your guts you know he’s nuts.

How do you feel about the logo? Would you find a new logo to be "refreshing"?

62 is irrelevant in this conversation!! I’m talking about a station that has a history of excellence! The station I grew up watching! I miss that station!

I hate to say it, but Fox 2 is ahead of 7 now. 7 used to be light years ahead of Fox 2.

Maybe so… but legacy media is a dying thing anyways. The old days aren’t coming back.

I just hope that Scripps doesn’t sell WXYZ. If it does, I’m concern Byron Allen will make a play for it and we all know that his reputation is not good at all.

Basically… the idea behind the current lack of live shots and limited breaking news is to have as many things as possible be cuttable for places like YouTube and other social media outlets. It’s why there aren’t a lot of short blurbs. Personally I wish one of our local TV stations would do News the way 950 does… a wide variety of subjects from all kinds of places. I probably learn more there than the three TV stations combined. 7’s 11pm newscast seems to be 3 or 4 feature stories, weather, a couple blurbs and sports… there isn’t much there.
