Back in the 80's, I could hear WRIF in the parking lot of the old Liggett ranch (WFMK) on Grand River, between Okemos and Williamston, with little effort.

A lot of stations have problems with their antenna or transmission lines. Then they do turn the power down if the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio is too high.

Since they have an AUX, which is pretty good, I don't know why they don't switch to it, unless something is wrong with it also.

It sounds like everything from the audio processor all the way up to the transmitter needs work.

Start with this to evaluate:

My estimate is that the transmitter and the antenna are only 15 years old or less. The ERI LYNX-Series-II broadcast antenna is still being sold today. How often do transmission lines need to be replaced at a transmitter site?
