Last night they repeated "Sweet City Woman" just one song after already playing it so maybe they're just playing tapes that aren't co-ordinated.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 4:51 pmI apologize for defending the playlist.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 12:50 pmBut they're actually playing songs worth listening to, so it's okay
I just heard Sweet City Woman by The Stampeders twice within the last 45 minutes.
However that's still not as funny as WOMC playing Jack & Diane twice in a row

The morning newscast is pretty good. Reminds me of Dick Haefner (sp?) from WJR that would spit out a ton of stories in a short period of time. It covers Windsor, US, international, business, etc.

Remember when they were going to end AM radio in vehicles? So many cared, so many didn't. Good times.

Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
There was a period of time where story count was the "big thing" in radio newscasting, I had two-minute recorded newscasts to produce that ran in overnights on a talk-oriented station and that included formatting in and out, with management "on me" to produce six stories in the cast. That's 18 seconds a story, based on the window described. If you included an actuality, it could be about as long as a comforting burp.
Ever the cynic, I would tell my peers the newscast elements sounded like "Dah-Dah-Dah-Dah, Dah-Dah-Dah-Dee, Dah-Dah-Dee-Duh-Duh-Dee-Dum." Not to say you can't tell a good story in that mode, but it was also designed as a hook to "find more on these stories on our website..."
I do tune in CKWW when I am in the Detroit area, as I find myself looking for AM music stations for as long as they will last.

Former CKWW DJ Robb Duncan is now the News reader. Another staffer, but with what advertising and revenue? I've still only heard one ad.
Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
Al Pervin will now host a midday talk show at 10AM. No word on the length of the program.
Music still repetitive. For some it’s Sweet City Woman. When I tune in I usually hear Electric Avenue.

I only have AM in my vehicle, so I'm okay with them removing AM from all electric vehicles. I've survived over 20 years without it, since I got my first MP3 player in 2003 or somewhere around there.

No. Tight song library, same morning show, Pervin's one hour talk show which replays in the evening, and Kent Chambers showing zero personality the few times you hear his voicetrack.
I think they are up to three ads- two attorneys and a telcom.

I wish they would add some jingles to add some energy, but I know jingles aren't fashionable anymore. I miss the old 580 a lot, but the current format is growing on me for an AM music station.
Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
Haven’t heard Robb Duncan read the news in a few weeks. GM Al Pervin has been doing it. His 10AM talk show also has fizzled out after about a month.
Budget cuts so soon, or did Duncan leave on his own?
I’ve heard a few ads but not many. Playlist seems heavier on Bee Gees and Phil Collins. Not as much “Sweet City Woman”
This station has to be bleeding money.

Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
I hope it lasts, I'm a regular listener and enjoy this radio station very much. Aside of the rocky Cancon songs, I like the playlist. If I could program the station, I'd drop the "heavier" songs and add more pop, and softer songs. But I hope this station sticks around.

So where are things now?
I just added that shortcut to my phone so I can listen but what of this 1150 or 1140am station?

New promos for Mark and Kara with the same lame voiceover guy, but nothing else of note. Pervin still reading news.
1150 is CKOC Hamilton. Don’t know if that station has progressed much since the changeover.
