Rob Kress has apparently passed away

I saw someone post this on Facebook. It seems legit.

I don't even remember what the illness was that took him off the air decades ago. But he was always very well liked and very good at what he did on air.

I remember he had Chronic fatigue syndrome (Lyme disease?) from a tick bite late in his career here.

Rob Kress has chronic Lyme disease; he made a video about it for WXYZ a long time ago. The medical community makes it nearly impossible for people to get diagnosed, along with the @FDA! Rob did not get diagnosed until the Lyme disease was very advanced, I do not know if he is still alive.

Rob is alive and well and living at a senior community in White Lake. I saw him today and spoke with him.

Somehow, Rob Kress' work history before WXYZ-TV seems to have disappeared. He used to be a meteorologist at WJRT ABC 12 before WXYZ-TV 7.

Earlier this year, he witnessed and took a video of a drive by shooting and sent it to ABC 12. He apparently lived in White Lake, and was identified only as a Channel 12 viewer, not a former employee.

I found that odd too. He doesn't have a son Rob according to the Obituary. A Rob Kress took the video and sent it to Channel 12. Seems like an odd coincidence if it wasn't at least a close relative.
