I would say when there is not a worthless clock next to your bed you know you have A++ accommodations.

Don't have one. But even if I did, it's easier just to glance up at the micrwave for the time than to fumble around in the dark for a cell phone.

A lot of the hotels I’ve been in… the microwave getting moved is no easy task… they usually have it tied down.

That's why I seldom stay at 5 Star hotels. The working class places usually provide a clock for their guests. Truckers and other workers have to be back out on the road early in the morning.

Maybe some of them do. But after a long day on the road it's more convenient just to glance at a clock to see the time instead of groping around in the dark for a cell phone and their glasses.

Most of the truckers use CB radio, but the rig stays in their truck overnight.

A trucker shouldn't be out on the road until he or she has logged the proper hours off work.

That's exactly why they need a clock.
And that's why you don't see a lot of big rigs parked outside the Waldorf Astoria.

They all have phones. Literally all of them. It’s a job requirement.

Is it also a job requirement that they must never ever look at a real clock?

Of course, luxury hotels don't want to subject their guests to the sight of a clock. They also don't want to subject their guests to the sight of a working class guy in the lobby or in the dining room.

No but they would not flinch just as if they were in the sleeper berth.
