Had a flight one night from Pittsburgh to Detroit. From Detroit I was to catch a connector flight home to London. There was a snow storm at Pittsburgh and the flight was late getting away. By the time I got to Detroit, I was too late to catch my flight home. It seemed like every hotel around the airport was filled.

I finally found a room (I don't recall how) at a place called Super 8. As soon as I entered I knew it might be a problem. The desk clerk was in behind a bulletproof glass window. I was starting to catch a cold and my throat felt raw. I asked the guy if there was anywhere around I could get some cold beer. He produced a couple of cans from somewhere and gave them to me. He said if there was anything else I wanted, to let him know. He strongly hinted that if I needed some company for the night he could help with that too.

Well I think that takes the cake right there then.

What did poor Howard do to you?

Any one I've ever stayed at has been a dump. The last one I stayed at was in Toronto. There was some kind of big event on in town and I think I must have got the last room in the city. It had a bed, a chair and a TV. No night stand, no lamps. Just a light fixture in the ceiling. There was one electrical outlet for the entire room. It was down near the floor behind the TV. If a person had wanted to use a hair drier or an electric shaver, they'd have had to get down on the floor to do it. Also the room stunk.

The next morning in the elevator I mentioned to one of the other guests how bad the place was. He said that in the hallway on his floor there was still the chalk outline of a body on the floor.
Howard has a dark side… we have one here by Detroit Metro Airport and the shadiest folks get on their hotel shuttle when I’m waiting for my passengers. I went and did DoorDash and had a delivery to the hotel… it was the type of place that you just walk into from the outside… no big lobby and elevators to several floors of rooms. An old fashioned motel… and again some of the shadiest folks in the area. Their van says “flight crew specials” but I don’t think any airlines put their employees up there. Basically either Marriott or Sheraton.
Spirit might.

I've learned to take online customer reviews with a grain of salt. About 5 years ago, I attended a convention with my Union in Cleveland OH. They had us all booked into one of the big hotels downtown, I don't recall which one.

Before leaving home I checked the online reviews for the place. One woman said it was spooky and she believed it was haunted. It turned out to be a good hotel. I didn't see any ghosts or spirits while I was there. I didn't hear any strange sounds in the night.

I read a review once for a Waffle House in Tampa. The woman said they had cockroaches dropping fro the ceiling onto their table. When they brought it to the attention of the manager, he made it right by giving them their meal for free. She was happy with that and gave it 4 stars.

They get carted off to somewhere off site… Allways Transportation brings a couple vans and off they go. Some of the flight crews get the Westin Book Cadillac downtown… swanky.

I believe so. There’s a limo company that runs a bus every day with their people on it.
