What DX Spanish station am I hearing where CHML used to be?

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

What DX Spanish station am I hearing where CHML used to be?

Unread post by Radiobirdman »

Every night on 900 I'm hearing Spanish language variety-type songs, very different style from what is usually played on Spanish language or regional Mexican stations. Usually a female announcer between songs. I've checked streams and it is not Progreso Cuba and not WACA in MD. Any ideas? Has anyone else heard this?

David Gleason, aka David Eduardo, who parlayed an early 1960s, early morning Spanish Language program for migrant Cherry picking workers in Traverse City on WCCW, into an empire of Spanish Language stations and networks all over the Western Hemisphere, would agree that it was probably XEW.

However, David also says that the remaining Mexican AM stations rarely operate at their full licensed power.

The 900 stations have largely cleared out in the region, CHML Hamilton, WSNQ Gaylord, WFRO Fremont, and WCER Canton. There could also be remaining US stations with Spanish Language formats on 900.
