I usually give a pass to young weekend anchors, but this is just downright hilarious! :lol

We joke, at our home, that Amanda Porter isn't real. She's very mechanical. I think she may be an android with a few glitches. She, clearly, doesn't belong in the TV business as she makes viewers uncomfortable. Hopefully she figures this out and heads to the nearest PR office with an opening. And...will someone PLEASE teach these green anchors to read their damn scripts before air. I just don't understand why this, clearly, isn't done anymore.

It is also on the producers to offer "POONCH-key" to those who read the copy, or teleprompter to keep an image of awareness for the brand in place.

My experience was in radio, where we said someone's first or last name to attribute a chunk of audio and if how to say that wasn't obvious, we wrote out a pronouncer in parentheses. Or at least, we always should.

Expecting that presentation will be smooth when the veterans are not under the lights may be a far reach, these days.

But then we are making the assumption that there are actually producers in the building at the time of the show. If TV is anything like today's radio, there is a skeletal crew and the rest of the building is dark.

I hear you, Steve. I am spitting into a pool I had no experience in, but whether you produce copy for use on-air momentarily or at the station's convenience, that's when you install the safeguard of a pronouncer.

I know well of now distant days where you and I were among no more than five or six bodies on a floor with a cluster's worth of signals rolling and that was the Saturday morning scene!

I don’t speak bad of anyone that puts their face or voice out there, but Amanda is horrible.

Agreed. A generation ago, this was "common sense" for all broadcasting - radio or TV. Unfortunately the unskilled millennials and Gen Z-ers hired by TV8 to do production, writing copy, directing, and behind-the-scenes stuff are generally paid very little, and it shows in the quality of their output. Same thing with the station's engineering dept - a quagmire of embarssing chaos. They're still my favorite TV station though, god knows why.

To be fair...some of the chaos DJ-MichaelAngelo refers to is caused NOT by the overworked and underpaid engineering staff at WOOD-TV...but because there's one guy at Nexstar's Indy hub Master Control trying to run two dozen stations at once. When you see massive switching errors, that's him; more correctly, digital logs from different stations fighting each other for his attention. This is happening because there's maybe 75% fewer eyeballs watching than a decade ago, but costs to run the station haven't declined 75%; quite the contrary. Mass media is dying, sadly.

Wood tv having problems with Youtube tv, said it's a problem with the hub? This isn't the first time, it's happened several times, and I end up getting NBC out of NYC.

Wait until she tries to pronounce WABASIS Lake. I agree 110% with every one of your posts. I just HAVE TO TURN THE STATION when TV8 Weekend News and Funnies come on the screen. The new girl at WWMT, Princess Johne does a very good job IMHO. WXMI got rid of almost all their competent help so they are out too. Now lets go to their websites....OMG! Weekends? Weekdays for that matter...breaking news! Muskegon! Fire with BLACK SMOKE! We are working to find out more about this news item and will never get back to you with what really happened....

I still maintain that this "hub" idea is a failed concept from the get-go and never even should've been started in the first place. It's clueless cheapskate "cost savings" taken to absurd proportions. These 2 dozen TV stations need to put on their big-boy underpants and do their OWN engineering from now on - dump this sketchy 3rd party "hub" everyone keeps talking about, and do everything in-house instead. Will it cost more? Yes of course, but you will have way more control and a better on-air presentation when you don't outsource critical engineering to some clown 500 miles away. What's next....off-shoring the "hub" to India or the Phillippines, just to save a few more bucks?
