Exactly… the last round was relatively high compared to where it’s been for nearly 30 years… but the inflation in the 90’s… 00’s and 10’s where it was at or around or less than 2% was unusually low when you look at historical averages.

I think Trump was trying to prevent a depression, but it went too far. $600 extra to sit on your butt gave no incentive to get back to work. Unemployment should just be enough so you can keep the heat on some food on the table. There already a mortarium on evictions.

Biden flooded us with even more (IIRC 1.7 trillion) with more BBB and IRA funds, so much that even Joe Manchin(D-WV) was very concerned it would CAUSE inflation, not reduce it (he was right). Biden kept saying inflation was transitory and did nothing, so it was hard to fix an issue that Biden believed would go away handing more money and keeping interest rates at practically zero.

Trump, with all of warts, was at less of fault than Biden, in this case. Trump may have taken action sooner, if still in office.

While I was no fan of the handouts, let's also not forget that Joe Manchin single-handedly sunk the original $3.5 trillion Covid recovery package that Biden and Democrats wanted, resulting in several considerably smaller bills eventually passing.
