WSYM Upgrading Signal
WSYM Upgrading Signal
WSYM Fox 47 will be upgrading their broadcast signal on August 27th. They claim these upgrades will result in "Lansing's Strongest Over the Air Television Signal"

Re: WSYM Upgrading Signal
Any chance we could get in here in Brighton? WLNS and WLAJ come in gangbusters, but we'd like a Fox affiliate.

Re: WSYM Upgrading Signal
With a short antenna about 15-18 feet high(Antenna Direct Clear Stream 4MAX), I get my locals in Saginaw plus 6 and 53 from Hemlock all the time.. 47 comes in at night...Maybe with the signal increase I-ll get during the day....maybe not.... 10 ((VHF)) not much success and interesting enough I get the translator 29(LP UHF) and sub channels from time to time, like 47, at night and very early in the morning....I do have a lot of trees....Reception will probably get better with fall and winter and no leaves....

Thanks for the info. We stream everything anyway, but having OTA TV options are always nice. Ironically, we have decent luck with everything but Fox. I don't think my wife is gonna want to set up an outdoor antenna.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 7:31 pmDoubtful. The signal strength in your direction will remain very weak. I mentioned the western & southwestern nulls in my earlier post, but there is also a tight but very deep null around 90 degrees. In plain speak, that means little "signal" is sent toward southern Livingston County.Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 4:04 pm Any chance we could get in here in Brighton? With an outdoor antenna with VHF elements facing eastward, you should be able to pick up WJBK.
But football season is starting....

Looks like the same pattern, just more ERP. Given that the nulls are supposed to be the maximum, it doesn't look that good to the East.

Re: WSYM Upgrading Signal
any chance Brighton area could get FOX 66 out of Flint area with a decent antenna?
Re: WSYM Upgrading Signal
Zoom in and move around on the map. You can zoom in to block level. I would think that at higher elevations, it would be good with a modest outside antenna, like 20 feet or more above the ground.fairbankshockeypuck wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 1:56 am any chance Brighton area could get FOX 66 out of Flint area with a decent antenna?

maybe weather...upgrade hasnt helped 47 here in Hemlock...in fact worse....i get 6 and 53 all the time
Re: WSYM Upgrading Signal
Keep in mind that WLNS/WLAJ has a 15+ mile advantage in your direction vs. WSYM (or WILX for that matter).fairbankshockeypuck wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 10:05 am maybe weather...upgrade hasnt helped 47 here in Hemlock...in fact worse....i get 6 and 53 all the time

Re: WSYM Upgrading Signal
Thanks Ed...that said...Would another 10 feet of heighth help for my antenna...or would it not be worth the hassle....I know 10 is VHF too but everyone once in a while I get 29 their low power translator...with fall and winter on the horizon and the leaves off the trees...reception might get better...using a Direct Antenna Clear Stream 4 max antenna pinting towards Lansing..I have an rca small coupled antenna for local stations pointing east

Re: WSYM Upgrading Signal
This upgrade didn’t benefit me in Owosso, still can’t receive the signal. While WLNS, WLAJ and WKAR work fine. WILX is also one that I can’t receive it’s signal.
