It's a viable Grateful Dead station, but they need to add new bootlegs and new tracks to the rotation.

How do 95.5 and 98.1 perform signal-wise in the east bay?

95.3 in Tuscorora Township (Indian River) did appear to be on, but 95.1 and 98.1 were dead air. Some STL troubles toward Glen Arbor?

WGFE 95.5 and WGFN 98.1 are on the same tower, at the same height, from a diplexed antenna. The signals should be very close to the same. Sometimes there are slight differences due to the vertical pattern of the diplexed antenna, because they are on two slightly different wavelengths. The measurable horizontal patterns may also differ slightly, since the antenna mounting also affects different frequencies differently. But 98.1 has the translator, W236BU.

There may be a problem with the power. They might be able to pull 95.3 off the air, or use an internet connection to deliver programming to W236BU.

They are also eligible to have auxiliaries in Traverse City, because they are well within the 60 dBu contour of WGFN and WGFE. WTCM 103.5 and WCCW 107.5 both have AUX facilities.

What stations other than 106.3 are still airing the Dead?

FWIW,101.9 has been airing an open carrier all this afternoon (7/10) throughout all of the greater Traverse City area.

Not sure but looking at the FCC data base a while ago,it appeared that WLDR's broadcast license should be suspended, due to them being off air for over a year.

Not sure if it was a dx catch or not.but on 101.9 in Traverse City around 5am this morning I was hearing classic rock tunes on what seemed to be a very strong signal..99.3 was also air with a non country format.

Will try tunning in tonight again around 5:30.

A 101.9/92.5 combo would make so much sense as their signals almost perfectly compliment each other.

My suggestion for that low power pirate station with poor modulation....
Play continuous audio from the TalkNet tapes on YouTube and ID as 101.9 The Bruce Williams Station.

Colonel Flagg can't imagine a salt of the earth nice guy like Bruce Williams (R.I.P) having anything to do with someone like Roy Henderson.

Just a guess, of course. :hat
