CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
I woke up this morning to a post on Facebook from Mark Lander. He announced that along with Kara Ro that they would be heading up a new Morning Show starting this Monday on 580. They have a new logo and a new tagline. Made in Windsor. I did go check the radio and it appears to be at low power because I'm having a very difficult time hearing anything over the static. Perhaps they're making some changes or moving Studios. But it looks like AM 580 CKWW will stay the same... I'm not sure if they will make any changes to the play list or programming like the Roger Ashby oldies show or back to the 70s Etc but I'm glad it won't be foreign programming. Call me shocked because I thought it was gone for sure.
Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
I can't confirm if they are at full power or not, however I moved my radio and figured out the problem was a nearby wireless camera that was causing interference. So perhaps they are at full power. I went to go get some groceries and had it on in the car with no issue. The new website is up www.am580ckww.com. I can't confirm that it will remain the same in terms of programming. I wish I had more information but I guess we will have to wait until Monday to find out.
Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
Just heard a message on the Roger Ashby oldies show that's currently airing. He said that it will no longer be heard on am 580 as the radio station has been sold. So I am not sure if the format will remain the same music wise. Now I'm doubting it. I hope this doesn't become another talk station or foreign programming mixed in. Anybody have any information on this?

They have a new bland talk show logo, and I clicked listen on the website and Prince was playing

Ashby was about as exciting as dry white toast...try to imagine Mark Hollis from WJR hosting an oldies show. That's pretty close. There are shows out there that are much much better.Steve79 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 10:23 am Just heard a message on the Roger Ashby oldies show that's currently airing. Well, if they do change formats, I would guess they'd drop the Sunday evening Casey Kasem AT40 70's countdown, I enjoy listening to every Sunday when I can.
Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
1150 CKOC is going to be called Superhits of the 70's and 80's. I think the music on 580 CKWW will be about the same.
1150ckoc.com
When you go to am580ckww.com and click advertise it mentions that they play music for the 40–70-year-old age group. The CKOC website says the same thing. So far, the future of 820 Radio in Hamilton is not being mentioned.

I mean, I hate to rain on anyone's parade, also, but look how excited we were to get WLLZ back. Look what we have now. All the AC/DC and Twisted Sister you can choke down.

Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
If CKWW was bought by the guy who owns CINA-FM, is it possible the music on 580 would duplicate on the FM?
Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
Ashby was on CHUM for decades before “retiring” and starting a syndicated show. They had several requests from SE Michigan because of CKWW. The infamous Cowboy was one of them (unfortunately).
I haven’t heard any changes on 580. Same voiceover guy, same ID, same jingles. Maybe I’m tuning in at the wrong time. Still airing MG Kelly’s 70s program. Monday will be the real test.
I don’t see a simulcast with 102.3. As I’ve said, I do see the non Arabic shows migrating to 580, if the CRTC allows it. 102.3 only airs them under conditions of the license, otherwise it would be 100% Arabic.

Same voice overs and jingles... But I'm sure that will come to an end sometime before Monday
Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
Looking at CKOC’s site, they have Kara Ro on air from 10-2, right after her morning show on CKWW. Voice tracking from Windsor most likely.
Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
CKOC has a way better logo. Also the slogan is better than "Made in Windsor" what makes me think it'll be music and talk programming.
