The station that has made the jump from unlistenable to enjoyable has been 96.3. They are really doing it right over there.
I kinda like the addition of more throwbacks from the Rick Gillette era of WHYT. It gives a standard milquetoast Hot AC more of a Detroit vibe.
Frankly WNIC is the station I find unlistenable when they segue from "ABCDEFU" to "Imagine." Obviously their target audience loves it, though.
Do you mean John Lennon's Imagine? That would be a jump. I have always had an aversion to WNIC because I swear it would be on in every dentist office I would visit as a child.
I've been going to the same dentist for many years, and they always have the same AC station on. Not sure why this is but every time, the songs- Glory of love- Peter Cetera, All night long-Lional Richie, and Every breath you take-The police are always on. One time Celine Dion was playing when I had a cavity filled
Set preset button 1 to 94.7fm... Everyone's making the switch to 94.7...

Their dentist office days ended in 2010. They have been playing teen pop since then.
Also, does the target audience actually like it or is it there are just no other options to play over the loudspeakers at businesses?
The programming is a mess and apparently Jay Towers is behind it. It honestly sounds like he just put in random songs in the playlist and hit shuffle. No thought whatsoever is put into it
Just because you don't like the programming doesn't mean it is a mess. Far from it! The station is enjoying record high AQH share this year. That's remarkable given WNIC's long tenured history.
They very clearly are doing something right. iHM has many large and major market AC stations with great numbers.
When I do hear an FM station playing over loudspeakers in a business, it usually is either WOMC or WNIC.
I didn't say I didn't like it.
I'm saying the 18 year old girls that like ABCEDFU have probably never even heard of John Lennon
Here are my intelligent radio ratings forJuly, all stations rate sucky in Detroit. Bad choice of music, bad compression, bad hosts, weak signals, etc. Listening to lossless quality digital music makes ancient songs seem brand new compared to FM.
