If I have learned anything after 45 years in the news business, you can't trust any of these holier than thou types.  Case in point.  The LGBTQ+ memo written by former WOOD TV assistant News  director Amy Fox. It was written at the direction of her boss ND Stanton Tang, the point was to direct the news staff to back off on coverage of PRO LGBTQ+ events.  "They just don't go over well in conservative West Michigan."  Directing Amy to write it cost him and her their jobs.  The memo continued to point out a good reporter should always present both sides of the story. I don't know why you would put something in writing you wouldn't want published, And I don't know who is stupid enough to run an anti gay story.    But that is the jist of the memo. 

Almost instantly someone at WOOD ran the memo downtown to Mlive.  How do I know?  The Holland Sentinel, a partner of WOOD said so this week. "News broke Thursday, June 29, that Grand Rapids-based outlet WOOD TV-8 has fired both the officials responsible for a controversial Pride Month memo and those accused of leaking it. 

But there is a 3rd player in this drama. It is an internet site calling itself TheDesk.Net It reports on media across the nation.

The Desk blew the cover off those producers when it reported a brief producer walkout at Wood, and then shot the producers in the back of the head, writing "Two other employees — producers Luke Stier and Madeline Odle — were also terminated after Nexstar accused them of leaking information about the memo to members of the news media. Journalists at WOOD-TV learned of their dismissals during an all-hands meeting arranged Thursday afternoon, two sources said." Any guess how Wood fired Tang? The Desk also wrote, "A multi-week investigation ended Thursday when Nexstar ordered station manager Brinks to fire Tang for violating company policy, according to a source familiar with his dismissal. Nexstar also ordered Fox to be dismissed for writing and sending the memo, finding her to be just as culpable, And,

I have a hard time believing that. The Diocese seems committed to FM and in for the long haul.

I wonder if that rumor got started due to people speculating that WGRD needs an FM signal to compete going forward? I say hogwash. That clean 1000 watt, high frequency signal is situated just right to provide a good signal to the whole city. Why spend extra money at FM wattage that just flows past the GR city limits and into a vast wasteland of small towns and farms?
