I posted the two columns.

The 5/13/81 column is very good and shows Ron's enthusiasm for and knowledge of his obviously favorite sport—hockey.

The 8/14/81 column is O.K. Good subject for a column, but any competent columnist could have written it.

On the first official day of summer, here is another parody of a Beach Boys song ("Help Me Rhonda").

Help Me Martin

(Instrumental intro)

Well the traffic's real slow and I won't get to work on time
But Martin's on the job and I know things will work out fine
Well, Martin you spin those dials
In a way that makes the listeners smile
I know you'll help me Martin
Help me get my show on the air

Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin yeah
Get my show on the air

The equipment's not right and the air's filled with loud echos
But Martin flips a switch and again he has saved the show
Well, Martin when I'm a jerk
You still know how to make the show work
You gotta help me Martin
Help me get my show on the air

Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin
Help, help me Martin
Help me Martin yeah
Get my show on the air

(Instrumental break)

Help me Sima
Help, help me Sima
Help me Sima
Help, help me Sima
Help me Sima
Help, help me Sima
Help me Sima
Help, help me Sima
Help me Sima
Help, help me Sima
Help me Sima
Help, help me Sima

Help me Sima yeah
Keep my show on the air

Bobbert, thanks for posting the two columns. They are another addition to Ron's multimedia body of work.

Here's a question for you. Did all of Ron's advertisers go out of business after his passing??? The ghost of Ron would think so.

Maybe some future entry level brokered radio show will pick up those advertisers and push the existence of the ghost of Ron roaming the premises of their establishments.

As Brian Wilson prodded Lennon & McCartney, Bobbert you have prodded me.
All apologies to the one and only Bobbie Gentry.

Ode To Ronnie C

Was late in February another freezing winter morn
I was out shoveling snow we had got dumped on by another storm
I headed up the drive to get me something tasty to nosh
The wife hollared into the garage, clean those boots off Stosh
Then she said I got some news posted on the local buzzboard
Today Ron Cameron was found dead on a cheap motel room floor

I asked the wife to please pass me a bowl of chilly
Well, Ronnie C never had a lick of decorum, his shows were silly
There’s gonna be five more inches of snow, I’ll have to plow
She said it was eventually gonna get Ronnie anyhow
Seems like quality shows rarely get broadcast on PON
And now yer sayin’ Ron Cameron is off the air again

And edj posted bout when he and Bobbert and Momo
Cried from laughing talking about Ron’s show
And was it Momo talkin’ to him at Rams Horn just last week
I’ll have some more of those day old scallops, he really was a freak
Somebody saw him in an Oakland county library recently
So Ronnie C’s been found on a motel floor you’re telling me?

The old lady said to me, this hasn’t ruined your appetite
I been cooking this slop ain’t you gonna save me a bite
That nice webmaster metalhead posted something today
Said he’d be pleased to break bread some day, and oh he relayed
Said he saw one of Ron’s many female listeners riding in a junker Dodge
And she and him were pulling in to the lot of a local motor lodge

A couple of months have passed since word was posted bout Ronnie C
Mr Positive is calling other shows, around the D
There was an STD going around, an unnamed listener caught it last spring
And Kurt from Frasier doesn’t seem to wanna list anything
Me, I’m twisting the dial of my radio now and then
And occasionally landing on the static signal of WPON

An even bigger question. What has happened to Ron's 1962 Pontiac??? Is it in some sort of museum?

Hopefully, no one’s jumped off the Ambassador or Gordie Howe Bridge at the loss of Ron. Terrific parody, Majik! Ron was a most unlikely creative inspiration to so many. And thanks for the name check, but it was Bobbert who likely has the honor of being the last “fan” - at Ram’s Horn - to come up to Ron “in the street.” I came across Ron a couple of months earlier at a library.

Yeah Momo, I could not exactly remember who met him where and didn’t want to spend an hour sifting through the thousands of posts on this mother of all buzzboard threads.

I did meet him once around 1987 to inquire about selling ads for Sports Fans Journal. I declined that opportunity. Did get a carry out from his greasy spoon down on Telegraph south of Michigan Ave once. He was not home at the time.

This is a significant addition to what Mark Wilson called The Ron Cameron Experience. Very atmospheric, and it skillfully ties together many of our experiences. Another impressive example of the collective creativity that will soon be rewarded with another unsurpassable milestone—2 million views.

They could display it near this old motel room at the Henry Ford Museum.

In the spirit of authenticity, the interior of the car should be enhanced with catsup-smeared Big Mac wrappers and yellowing copies of USA Today Sports Weekly.
