If you look at the menus or the websites of any of the Coney joints in the area they all use the term "chili" or "chili sauce." You can buy "National Coney Island Hot Dog Chili Sauce" at Kroger. There are lots of kinds of chili. Texas chili isn't Cincinnati chili isn't Oklahoma chili isn't the kind my Mom used to make.

I always thought Coney dogs and Chili Dogs meant the same thing.
