Rons adopted NHL team the Edmonton Oilers are one game away from the Stanley cup finals

I feel Ron’s show this weekend would have plenty of oiler talk

And Ken Holland as a live guest to boot.

Ron's adopted team only because Ken Holland was a longtime recurring guest. Much like how Ron would ask his producer of the moment to bring up the box score stats of Tony Sipp, an occasional guest. And also his rooting interest in the Mets when Terry Collins, his so-called "good friend" from his '60s umpiring days, was their manager. The defiantly anti-homer Ron sure did bask in a lot of reflected glory.

Ron had a lot of acquaintances whom he called good friends. His death showed us his true friends: Joe LaPointe, Paul Woods, Martin Anthony, Alex Alway, Mr. Positive, several people on Twitter and Facebook, and some others.

As for Bob Page, his personal relationship with Ron could probably be best described as All of the Above.

He also stole some strikes in the bottom of the seventh inning—something Ron said never happened.

Post-Budd Lynch & Bruce ("Martini") Martyn, the only Wings broadcasters I ever heard Ron have kind things to say about were Paul Woods & the late Dave Strader, who, not so incidentally, were guests on his show.

One of Ron's "good friends," Jackie Kallen, has been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sport ... 019619007/).

Ron last talked with Jackie about three years ago (https://mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/viewtopi ... 45#p670809).

Ron also paid Jackie his highest compliment by losing her phone number (https://mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/viewtopi ... 05#p710839).

It seems that most everyone, including you & me, Bobbert, parlayed their association with Ron into one HOF or another. But there would be no such honors - in life, at least - for Ron.

Prior to the start of the Tigers/Brewers series,
I think Ron would have looked at this one as one of his “interesting” breakdowns for a series

Ron didn't lose Jackie's number, that was the handiwork of his sticky-fingered motel maid. I'm imagining an alternative universe in which our Hazel is hosting some top-rated show/podcast, interviewing all the people whose numbers she purloined from the hapless Ron.

I think the only time he didn't blame "lost" phone numbers on the maid was when he dropped his cellphone in the snow (https://mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/viewtopi ... 30#p720915).
