I wouldn't be shocked. I was on 96 in Livonia when it hit. It was brutal. Any further info on where it may have hit?

I was also on 96 in Livonia when it hit. Got very dark, traffic just about stopped on 96. Got off at Farmington Rd to get home, which had some flooding.

NWS has confirmed an EF1 in Livionia. They probably won’t get a decent description out until the morning. I know a 2 year old was killed and a baby was injured when a tree fell on their house… that was in the area of Schoolcraft and Newburgh.

Did you see that close lightning strike and loud clap?

I saw that sky coming out of Detroit and it was dark as night.

I was also coming out of Detroit and saw the sky. I assumed it was farther west. Everyone on the road had headlights on. Traffic was backed up at Outer Drive and the wall of rain hit around Beech Daly. I saw a few faint flashes of lightning but honestly, the rain was so heavy and loud on my vehicle that I didn’t notice too much lightning or thunder.

Same here. I live about a mile from where this happened. Every day is a gift.

Were you home for this storm by chance?

I will say I thought the marginal risk SVR outlook (level 1 of 5) should've been a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for SE Michigan yesterday. Timing of storm development in our area was favorable, a humid warm air mass was in place (SBCAPE was substantial), and there was some mid-level wind support. I was a little surprised we weren't upgraded to slight risk when the mid-morning update occurred.

Granted, there's not a big threat difference for marginal risk versus slight risk.
Interestingly absolutely no tornado mention in any outlook…

Yes. I was in a room with the drapes closed so I didn't really see much. The main thing I noticed was the heavy rain and the continuous thunder. The thunder sounded like the continuous artillery fire that you hear in movies. The rain was so heavy that I found a pile of shingle grit around the exit from the downspout from my roof.
