Wasn't the context of his "dictatorship" comment about restarting the wall and oil drilling ?
He mentioned those right after but I have a large amount of debt and a laundry list of things to sell including several bridges if you’re willing to take him at his word…
Actually I went back and checked. It was all part of one continuous statement. Not an afterthought. And no I don't take him at his word but there are two way's to look at that.
1. He is actually the next Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Mussolini just waiting to to seize power, overthrow Congress and do away with elections
2. He is another politician making "promises" that will never happen, or partially happen at best.
If you think #1 is the answer how many bridges do want to buy?
There was a second quote when he tried to defend it where he mentioned them after. The reality is there are plans in place to fire all of the civil service and replace them with toadies in one fell swoop, install lackies as acting cabinet scretaries if need be and govern without much regard for what anybody else thinks. They even have a 1000 or so page blueprint called project 2025. So he may not overthrow congress but he will try his damndest to ignore their existence and get lackies to break the law on his behalf.
There’s an old quote… “when someone shows you who they are believe them the first time”. He keeps hinting at it and nobody seems to be listening.

How about this. He showed us who he was when he did 4 years in the White House. One of the biggest liberal whines was he wasn't enough of a dictator when Covid came along. Instead of ruling like a dictator he turned over a lot of choices and decisions to the individual states. Whether that was the right decision or not it was the opposite of a dictator.

He was tempered during his first term because he was concerned with re-election. If he wins in November, he will not have that guardrail, nor will he appoint anyone who might give him any pushback.

Exactly… he and his inner circle feel having Tillerson and Sessions and the other adults along for the ride the first time was a mistake. He is NOT planning on doing that again.
So if he wins, and I hope he doesn't, but if he does there is a working definition of a dictator.
So all you people think if he wins there will be no more elections? Trump will somehow take control of the military, arrest all the democrat's in Congress and send them to concentration camps or execute them?
Ironically enough 80 years ago today, June 6 1944 my dad landed on the beaches of Normandy to do his share to crush an actual dictator.

Honestly, Craig? The bravery and valor of those men is incomprehensible.

He will get as far as he can. If the military officers resign he’ll replace as many of them as possible with lackeys. Just like firing 50,000 civil service members under schedule F, something he promises to do on day one and which the Heritage Foundation is currently lining up 50,000 pro-MAGA replacements. I’m not kidding. Go look up what project 2025 seeks to do. It’s literally a 1000 page blueprint for conservative government and the dismantling of the post-world war 2 federal government. He will surround himself with sycophants instead of legitimate adults and none of them will say no to his worst impulses.
But you go right on thinking Trump 2.0 is Trump 1.0 just 8 years later. The point isn’t that he will succeed… he may and he may not succeed. Its that he will TRY and it WILL cause damage.
So he is a dictator wannabe and in 4 years there will be another election?
Will he be a disaster as a president? Probably but that's not a dictator.
In any case he is 0 -2 when it comes to popular vote and that isn't going to change IMO.

But will there be another election? Who knows? If he gets in there and just begins declaring things and installs enough lankies and they carry it out anyways exactly who is going to stop them? And if certain folks in law enforcement are sympathetic and won’t lift a finger then what?
He is a dictator wannabe… yes… can he do extreme damage to the country and the way it operates? Yes. Would they dismantle as many agencies as possible, take it to the Supreme Court and likely get crazy things put through anyways? Yes. Does he intend to go after his political enemies and conduct sham prosecutions? Yes. Would he hesitate to start rounding up the homeless and people “here illegally” whether they actually were or not? Yes. These are all things they are on the record wanting to do. The guy is practically shouting it from the rooftops with a big neon sign…

Stop it, stop it you're ruining all the liberal talking points, LOL.
The MSM is saying that Trump is going to jail his opponents. The source for much is this is HIGHLY EDITED interview with Sean Hannity. I *finally* found the whole interview with Sean; he said no such thing. His comments were the opposite, saying locking political opponents would destroy the country. So much for the so-called capital J-urinalists.
Just one more sign he would do some revenge should he get back in… he’s been yelling, screaming and dropping F-bombs at Mike Johnson undoubtedly causing him much trauma. The demand is that he defund the prosecutors who have cases against him and otherwise go after people he feels have wronged him:
