All of those high-MPH pitches might be making Paul Skenes a candidate for Tommy John surgery.
By the end of the 2023 MLB season, 31 of the 64 hardest throwing pitchers based on Statcast numbers had already had Tommy John surgery. Injury analyst Joe Roegele, who tracks Tommy John surgeries, told USA Today last month that 35 percent of current MLB pitchers have had Tommy John surgery, and that is up 29 percent since 2016.

A two-start trip to Toledo for Max Scherzer in late May of 2010 helped him turn his career around. Interestingly, when he returned, he replaced Dontrelle Willis, who was DFA'd after trying for two years to turn his career around.
But it's nice to see Justyn-Henry Malloy get a chance. In 2022, he was the best hitter in the Atlanta minor league system, which in recent years has produced players like Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley (https://www.baseball-reference.com/team ... ue_batting).
