New WWJ/WKBD Boss
Re: New WWJ/WKBD Boss
“The task to right the ship” named The Titanic. 50 and 62’s news is terrible what a waste.

She is exactly what that station needs. She's excellent.

Re: New WWJ/WKBD Boss
Lets hope she gets CBS back on the mission statement track of “bringing news from your block.”
I got tired of turning CBS news on and seeing the same reports as Channel 2 and 4.
But I go to Macomb County scanner, all new stories never broadcast on Channel 2, 4 and 62.
So the new boss needs to get reporters out in the field to cover these stories happening around the block's and broadcast on 62 as they are not broadcasted on any of the major Detroit stations

That decision-making went out the door with the old GM.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 1:46 pm A 10 PM newscast on channel 50 would be nice.
Will be interesting to see if any additional heads roll.
I'm still not over WWJ-TV refusing to break into programming on a wall-to-wall basis last August as a strong tornado ransacked I-96 near Webberville.
Being on 50 wall-to-wall at the time was fought for that night and almost didn't happen, but the newsroom stood against the corner office and that was all they were given.
The weather team has been rejoicing since the GM departure was announced and they are not hiding it from the rest of us in news.
Many poor decisions were made there.

Could their argument be it isn’t their market, as Webberville is in Ingham County (albeit barely)? Is 62 carried on cable there? As terrible as their news is, it could be seen as a valid.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 1:46 pm A 10 PM newscast on channel 50 would be nice.

Even ABC12 in Flint was on it.

Jennifer is an excellent choice. She was the driving force behind WGN Morning News and made a dominant force in Chicago. If the blue suits at CBS let her do her magic, she can fix 62.

Re: New WWJ/WKBD Boss
Any chance with new leadership they build a real news studio and set for CBS Detroit? Also, any chance Rod Meloni and/or Mara McDonald end up at CBS Detroit after their buyouts and non-compete are up from Local 4?
