Lansing is losing Antenna TV and Circle

Unread post by Splouge »

WILX will be moving H&I to 10.3, and new networks The365 and Outlaw will be going to 10.5 and 10.7. Antenna TV and Circle are GONE.

EDIT: Turns out Circle is shutting down entirely

I think that Nexstar or Mission could pick up Antenna TV since Nexstar owns the network. I knew Circle was shutting down The365 sounds like Bounce & Outlaw like Grit.

Since WLAJ and WLNS are channel sharing, with 3 HD feeds on 1 multiplex, I think they're already full.

Here’s more on the channel changes:
https://thedesk.net/2023/12/outlaw-the3 ... uary-2024/

https://www.wilx.com/2023/12/19/new-cha ... ry-1-2024/

It also appears that WILX and sister station WLUC owner Gray TV just extended its NBC affiliations:
https://thedesk.net/2023/12/gray-televi ... -new-deal/

WILX also looks like it’s removed the NBC peacock from its logo… so I wonder how long it’s planning to remain the market’s NBC affiliate? It doesn’t appear to say how long it extended its network agreement.

Appears to be a corporate move, as all of Gray's NBC affiliates did the same. Gray having bad blood with NBC?

Gray hasn’t had nearly the retrans disputes that groups like Sinclair, Nexstar and others. It’s nearly capped out with the number of markets it can own without going over the 39% cap. Gray’s been rumored to be interested in buying a major network affiliate— so maybe that has something to do with the extended negotiations?

Apparently Gray is moving to de-emphasize network affiliations for all of their stations, according to this forum thread: https://forums.tvnewstalk.net/topic/170 ... d/page/44/

And judging from the discussion about WNEM getting rid of the CBS eye, it's an industry-wide phenomenon. It appears stations are moving to emphasize what they can offer that streaming can't, particularly local news.

Try Frndly TV. They stream Antenna TV and all the other HD sub-channel networks. It's cheap and you get the full feed - no preempting shows to run infomercials.
