Being a radio guy, I listen to the Tigers on the radio quite a bit. I do have Bally Sports both at home and at our lake house, but when I'm up at the lake I'd rather be outside by the lake listening to the game on the radio. With that being said, I enjoy listening to Dan Dickerson on the Tigers broadcast. Is he Ernie Harwell? No, but nobody could really replace Ernie.

Rizzs was actually OK (outside of that catchphrase) , it was Bob Rathbun (Rashbuns) that was a hick from Virginia that sounded minor league and small time (Any one remember the "Happy Totals" after a win?)

edit: I see he has been lead play by play voice for the Atlanta Hawks since 1996..... so he has found his niche - but being in Atlanta doesn't exactly change the opinion of "being a hick from down south"

Regarding Rizzs and Rathbun, it didn't help that the Tigers replaced beloved, old school announcers like Ernie and Paul with two out of town pukers who were all about cliches and catch phrases. People were absolutely pissed about what happened to Ernie, causing the new guys to stand zero chance of succeeding. I'm not unconvinced that they were brought in to be sacrificial lambs.
