Audacy files Chapter 11

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Audacy has reached an agreement with its senior lenders for a prepackaged Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan set to be filed in the next couple of weeks.

Audacy has been in negotiations with its lenders since skipping on its debt payments due at the end of September while in a grace period for payment. The bankruptcy plan will see the debt holders finance the company through the Chapter 11 proceedings and take ownership of the company afterwards.

What does this mean for local CBS radio? WWJ, KMOX, WCBS (AM/FM), etc?

Audacy should sell WXYT 1270 to a religious group like Relevant Radio, or a Foreign Language broadcaster.

Anyone thinking now is the time to watch 98.7 flip to a WWJ simulcast? Not that they spend a ton of money on the station but if every dollar counts...

Partly, I was trying to get some of you riled up, like you're always trying to do to me, by suggesting that it should go to religion or foreign language.

Actually, moving WXYT back near its Southfield site with the maximum possible nondirectional power Days, using proof and other conductivity measurements, and taking a few towers down, changing the pattern somewhat, reducing power somewhat, and widening the major lobe Nights, wouldn't be a bad idea. WLQV took a few towers down and improved their pattern, and sold off part of their land, though it was a quite different situation.

I think they meant WOMC-HD-2. It's on the FM BC Band, but it's digital.
