Joe will be missed, but I hope he gets a new co-host that can sing better I suspect he will move over to Superstation 910? I hope someone posts he new station and time on this thread.

WJR will probably fill the time slot with even more garbage paid programming.
Mark Hollis' show just came on. Thirty seconds in, I'm already bored to tears. Changing the channel. The guy has zero charisma and cannot even string together a coherent thought.
How does WJR's incompetent PD still have a job? He was a lousy PD in Atlanta, and he's now a terrible PD here.
The one positive: WJR's audio processing finally sounds good again. The loud distortion appears to be gone.
The amusing thing about Mark Hollis is, you can tell from listening that in his mind, he's a broadcasting legend
I wouldn't rule out Joe turning up at WAAM. He's been there before. WFDF would be better, but he would probably have to buy the air time.
Joe said he was removed from WAAM because Thayrone's late wife said he was boring. He went to WTKA after that, then back to WJR if my memory is correct.
I think he was on 1400 at one point too. They'd take him, but Joe would have to pay there too.

I never heard that he was on WTKA. But that doesn't surprise me.
I always got the impression that Joe Gagnon loved doing radio and helping seniors and such keep 30-year-old Maytag appliances running, so he could refer to the new stuff as J-U-N-K!!! His folksy style wasn’t a lack of prep, it just was who he was. Whoever at ‘JR thought there’s no room for this type of show is mistaken.

Good chance it's the same thing that causes shows to get cut at WDET. The programming staff decides since it's not something that interests them, no one else is interested either.

Gagnon's first WCAR show was on Sept. 6, 1985. I found a 1988 article which says he already had 20 years of experience by then.
I'm trying to remember if Joe was on WIID, prior to it taking the WCAR calls. He's been around.
Listened to the truncated podcast edition of Joe Gagnon’s final (?) WJR Sunday morning show. He had LOTS of callers (more than I’d heard recently, and lots of “characters”), and many were FIRED UP about Joe leaving ‘JR. Several were pretty critical of WJR, and very thankful and appreciative of the show, to the point of almost making it uncomfortable over the air! No wonder most outgoing radio hosts are just shown the door when they leave! It sounds like Joe’s next move/station is still TBD.
My hunch says Joe goes the brokered route again like he did at the Ann Arbor stations. I don't see anyone hiring him, not because of his content or talent, but because that's how the radio market is these days.

Was that a brokered slot at WJR?
My best guess is no.
If it was, he'd probably still be there. Money in the bank.
I get the feeling that some of the brokered shows on WJR are not delivering the desired results. The heavily accented Dr. Anne Marie Colon blow, who's biggest caller was "Mr. Positive" is long gone. I guess the Sloan Brothers infomercial side hustle isn't so lucrative after all. That's really a shame.
Ha! I think AnneMarie is his agent. Dr. Colon blow was a guy. Holy cow--I was listening one night as background noise in 2021 and a guy called them and accused them of giving bad covid advice. AnneMarie yelled at the guy and told him if he has a problem, call station management, and hung up on him. That show was ridiculous.
