Re: Stoney
Sad to see Stoney leaving, but at 65 years old I can understand why he'd want to take a step back from full time, morning radio. I loved Stoney and Wojo back in the day on WDFN and all the bits and segments they used to have together. As for his replacement, I'd like to see either Jim Costa bumped up to the morning show or Sean Baligian brought in as the new co-host.

Re: Stoney
Who but Sean Baligian can bring an in-depth discussion of junior league hockey to the table

Re: Stoney
Sean discusses far more than just hockey, but what's the big deal if he happens to know a lot about the sport. But if you don't want Sean, than who do you suggest?craig11152 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 11:51 am Who but Sean Baligian can bring an in-depth discussion of junior league hockey to the table![]()

Re: Stoney
Less of Stoney is a good thing.
Costa or Baligian would be ok replacements.
Riger would sink the show.
I'll tell you what I think about Doug Karsh and his constant teases...right after the break.

My only problem with this new semi-retirement, fill-in arrangement, is that he might now pop up at a time when I actually listen to that station.

Kyle Bogey and Riger filled in twice in the morning together about 4 years ago and were hilarious. That's who I'd want, but obviously that ship has sailed.
Re: Stoney
Baligian would be a great choice but he may be tied to WJR for a while
It won't be Valienti or a weekend/floater like Caputo. My bet right now would be Karsh.
Ron Cameron doing a fast paced morning show. Oh the horror!

Re: Stoney
I"ll vote for Costa or for a change throw in a knowledge woman like N. Kerwin

Re: Stoney
Never listened much to the morning show, will forever be an icon of Detroit sports radio just for his WDFN years. Little AM station with no signal had the top afternoon drive show.

Re: Stoney
Please, no Screaming Scott Beligian. No Doug Karch…. Isn’t there anyone else to choose from?

Bummer to hear, but good for Stoney to give some time for himself. Though I wonder if he was politely pushed out. I was a listener from the WDFN days, grew up with Stoney and the others .
I am thinking costa moves into this position

Ha! Ron would say he is too busy for morning radio and wants to report to know one. Ron has alluded many times, nothing beats brokered radio for him lolMWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 12:07 pm Good article:

Maybe his replacement will be Ron Cameron! LOL
Six month non-competes are pretty common. Let's see if anyone suddenly vanishes from another station's airwaves locally. If so, that person is likely heir apparent to Stoney.
I have an uneasy feeling Jeff Rieger (already at 97.1) will be promoted. I'd rather hear him in the morning than Doug "5 packs a day" Karsch, though.
