They must have gotten the internet at the retirement home.

Clearance for their BIN, so probably until the transmitter falls over. If BIN fails, they could put on their syndicated talkers, again for clearance.Marcus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:34 pm I wonder how much longer IHeart will hang on to AM 1130.

At a certain point, isn't it cheaper just shutting off the transmitter? I can't imagine much money being made there.edj wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 8:41 pmClearance for their BIN, so probably until the transmitter falls over. Re: July Ratings
WDFN is downriver, near Vreeland and Jefferson, a highly industrial area. 2 towers day and 9(!) at night. They are heavily directional due to a clear channel in New York. They could sell some of the night towers (assuming they own there) and just give up on any real signal after 5PM in winter. One of our engineers would have a better idea how that would work and what their power would be reduced to.
They could also try to sell to either yet another religious broadcaster or Sima. Perhaps Salem if they want an upgrade from 1400. There’s no room on the dial for a new FM translator.

How long will Cumulus stick around in Detroit? WDVD is struggling and It feels like the last chance for WJR - they've invested in local talent and it's still not moving the dial. They really need some younger talent to bring down the average listener age from 85.
Will someone go after WKQI? 96.3 could make a run at it, they've got a new PD and on-air talent. Maybe as a rhythmic Top 40.

For the right offer, they're out of here. I don't think it's an urgency, both make money. WJR more so.lush.rimbaugh wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 4:24 am How long will Cumulus stick around in Detroit? Rhythmic AC or Adult Top 40 favoring the 2K's makes sense for WDVD.
So, being Cumulus, look for them to continue to play Duran Duran and other such nonsense and hand Ifart the format.

Re: July Ratings
There's so much history on both the 93.1 and 96.3 frequencies that a certain age group would love. Its a shame 93.1 pissed it away; Rhythmic AC would be awesome. Perhaps with some non-rap hits from the 00s. It would be nice to see something different for a change.

Re: July Ratings
They should switch it to Alt 88-7 Windsor-Detroit’s Alternative rock and put news radio 950 on 98.7 fm. Bring back 93-9 The River. Cumulus Media should buy 102.7 and simulcast 102.9 W-4 Country. Beasley Media should buy 107.5 and put the Detroit Praise Network on it. Praise 107-5

Re: July Ratings
All that I can say about the Detroit area July ratings is that I-Heart owns the top two with WKQI and WMXD. Also in the
top ten at number 7 is WNIC. Meanwhile Audacy has more in the top ten then does I-Heart with "The Ticket" number 3,
WOMC at number 5, WYCD at number 6, and WWJ at number 10. Beasley had three in the top ten with WCSX at number 4,
WRIF at number 8, and WMGC at number 9. Cumulus had none in the top ten and their WDVD was eleventh.
