CW 38 WADL

Unread post by MrJeffrey2020 »

Apologies if this is already posted on this group but it looks like 38 will become CW after reading this article.

"If the sale goes through, Detroit’s CW affiliation will almost certainly move from WKBD to WADL. Nexstar owns a majority stake in the CW Network, and operates nearly all of Mission Broadcasting’s local stations through shared services agreements. (A press release announcing Mission’s pending acquisition of WADL was republished by some Nexstar-owned broadcast stations.)"

It will be interesting to see what happens to WKBD during it's independence of any major network and how 38 will rebrand itself as CW.

If this sale goes through, where will MyNetworkTV programming go from here?

Probably to either 38.2 or 38.5 since they drop programming on both those channels in the last few months.

Or they could move MNTV programming to late nights after The CW finished for the evening -- all MNTV is these days is two hours of off-network reruns a night.

Doesn't this have a horrible signal in certain parts of Metro Detroit? I wonder if streaming services like Hulu and YouTube TV will add this channel now that there's more of a major network on it.

Hi, Mr. Adell wanted me to let you know that both the CW Network and My Network will air on the main channel 38.1 with the CW Network from 8PM to 10PM and My Network from 10PM to 12 midnight weekdays.

That said, given WADL's tower location near the Clinton Twp / St. Clair Shores border, over the air reception is certainly difficult near and west of 275 and probably darn near impossible near and west of US 23.

If the deal goes through, it will be interesting to see if Mission attempts to move the transmitter to one of the Royal Oak Twp or Southfield sites.
Last time I scanned, a big laughing face appeared when I tried to tune in 38.

To be honest, my best scans here are WLNS and WLAJ.

So its CW38 until 10pm then morphs into MY38 till midnight.

Nice of Mr Adell to be reading the buzzboard.....I give him alot of credit to be one of the first stations to embrace the sub channels and bring channels that had no home in Detroit at the time to WADL like Get tv and Grit.

Is WADL gonna be adding Rewind TV to a subchannel? Or perhaps get the Antenna TV affiliation back?

Yes, Mr. Adell said as soon as the Antenna TV contract with Ch. 20 is up they will add it back in. As far as 38.5 The Word Network goes it was removed because it’s already carried on all the cable providers in Detroit and it wasn’t part of the contract with Mission Broadcasting.
