Shows on Friday’s will be a mess I thinkDan in Northville wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 5:39 pm Ron just couldn't accept how good he had it at The Patriot. This whole show on WPON is going to hell in a handbasket really quick. For someone who "has a lot to talk about" he sure has nothing to talk about. The show drags, nobody calls. It's basically a snooze fest until Kurt calls with at least something intelligent to offer. I even sent him three legitimate (i.e. not stupid) emails today, none of which made it through..............but then again, I'm no Meredith.

If he makes it another year I'll be surprised.
Ron's career obituary has long been written. As long as he still has sponsors, I suspect Ron will go on as long as he can. It's not as if he cares about the product he delivers.

Dan in Northville wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 4:04 pmI just googled Rich Kincaide and found his address and phone number in about ten seconds. Ron is such a dope.
Even for Ron, this seems implausible. Could it be Ronspeak for Rich Kincaide no longer wants to be on his show post-N-word controversy? With Rich's strong political leanings, that seems to be a distinct possibility.
Re: Ron Cameron
Another ex-Tiger, Vern Holtgrave has died. Another ideal guest Ron could have had. Credit to baseball reference for having recently deceased players on the front page. Will Ron mention him?

Re: Ron Cameron
I'd be surprised if Ron lasts two months on this pea shooter station. Sima will get sick and tired of Ron's ridiculous ego driven demands, his constant bashing of the station and his former station, and his constantly mentioning WDTK's phone number. Of course Sima might put up with it because it's $$$. No other PD/GM around would put up with the ego-driven "SPORTS TALK RADIO LEGEND" for 2 minutes.

He took a lot of parting shots when he made his first (of many) departures from Detroit in 1992.radiofan1974 wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 3:24 pm Looking forward to hearing the old episode before Ron heads out to California, I am thinking Ron is probably slamming the area and city on his way out? Would be my guess

Mark from Warren just called in to Caputo's show on 97.1 to reiterate his plan to make Miggy a coach for the balance of the season.
Re: Ron Cameron
Lot to unpack here.
First of all, as if there could be any doubt, the fortysomething Ron and seventysomething Ron are equally aggrieved. He's exhibit A for the proposition that one's basic core doesn't really change much over time.
As for notion that" "a lot of athletes ... wouldn't come on [his] show" because they "don't want to hear the questions [he'd] have to ask them, I say, in my best Scoop impression, "Really?!?" Have we ever witnessed a slobbering Ron ever ask a guest a tough question? If they deign to be a guest, they're in Ron's good graces forever. See Al Avila.
That upcoming Florida business venture with Grant Hudson didn't exactly work out well for Ron.
If a mini-mall wasn't big enough in 1992 for all of his former restaurants, one has to wonder if a regular-sized mall be sufficient all these years laters.
The reference to 1992 Ron blaming Detroit sports fans for changing the face of sportcasting as he had known it gets to what I've long noticed - Ron hates the local fans, & by extension, his very own callers.

Re: Ron Cameron
Among many items in the July 10, 1992 article was Ron's paradoxical view of Bob Probert. While Mr. Cameron stated that he was "pulling for" Mr. Probert "like crazy," he then derided the standing ovation the Red Wing received upon return after his suspension. RC's declaration that "the fans in this town like their sports sugar-coated," sounds like someone who just discovered there is no Santa Claus.

Ray Scott, good guy always try to steer the interview straight
Re: Ron Cameron
George Blaha next Saturday; Nick Libett next Sunday. I guess we are to believe that Ron contacted Libett after the show yesterday or sometime today.

Ron with a stern warning to Mr P and mentioning buzzboard-though if you pay plug away
Re: Ron Cameron
Hi Mr. Positive! Thanks for the free "plug." This kind of spontaneous publicity is really going to make me.
