5's Bait and Switch Sweeps Plan

Channel 5 has developed a new bait and switch technique for getting viewers to watch their sweeps stories. The promos will say that it is scheduled for one time, and it ends up airing about 30 minutes later. When you tune in for the 5:00 newscast, they run a graphic that it will now air at 5:30pm. This has happened every single time during the past 2 weeks. The excuse could be used that the 5:00 newscast was loaded, but it is pretty weak. Some of those segments could be shifted to the less popular 5:30 newscast without issue to allow the stories to air at the time advertised.

Lying to the audience to grow ratings? Sounds like a new branding line for the Rusty Nickel. Also very on brand for 5’s not to be trusted News Sith Lord, Jayne.

A little bird says that the stories are getting buried to 5:30 because Jayne feels they are weak and the reporting is not of high quality. And, she is right about that. Look for the trend to continue.

Bait and switch has been going on for years, YEARS! Get over it. Business as usual.

Jayne needs to hire some reporters. Every lead story is James Felton reporting. The canned animal stories are getting old. You need Terry Camp back.
