Way too much news

Unread post by Under New Management »

I tried watching WNEM’s news tonight. It was unwatchable. I come to watch local news… but all they had were a couple of local news stories followed by long and boring national news packages.

If you’re not going to add local reporters, start canceling newscasts and fill with comedy reruns and game shows. I’m pretty sure WEYI has more reporters now than TV5.

Who is running these stations?

That has been my biggest complaint for over 10 years.... Just copy and paste from Pathfire!

News Director Jayne Hodak was fired once by Gray TV (when it owned WJRT)… it’s just a matter of time before WNEM fires her as well. She can’t hire anyone and the quality of the broadcasts are just so-so. That’s not a good measurement for what’s supposed to be the market leader. Plus, no one likes or respects Jayne since she plays favorites (probably the only reason David Custer keeps his job.)

Any relation to Jerry?

Yes, it’s his daughter.

The broadcasting talent must skip a generation

Do you know how expensive syndication is? Running news packages = free.

She wasn't fired. She refused to put up with Pete Veto's insane antics any longer. Pete Veto was the only person on Gray's list to be send DOWN many markets and for good reason. That man harassed his employees and made illegal threats against them.

Veto was a bad person. Jayne is a disaster and absolutely was fired by Pete. No one missed either when they exited the building.

Hodak ran a once on the rise station into the ground, which is why she was let go. She’ll do the same to WNEM and the outcome will be the same. It’s just a matter of time before GM Ken stops putting up with Jayne’s holier than thou attitude… and adds her to the long line of failed former WNEM News Directors like Ian Rubin and Karin Movesian.

Local news should be LOCAL news. Not repeating big stories that make NATIONAL news.

Weather is more relevant than another dog story and David and Meg calling it heart warming because producers can't come up with other words.
