DNC changes primary schedule
DNC changes primary schedule
The timing is very odd - we're told Biden is fit to serve and intends to run for reelection. Why are they pushing this realignment when they're saying that it will be Biden?

Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

It better not be fucking Biden. I'm sorry, 80+ is just too old. Call me ageist all you want. Jesus tap dancing Christ. We wouldn't even let my grandmother go up and down the basement stairs at 80!
They stick Biden up there next year and it'll be president DeSantis. Or, unless the Big Macs catch up, president Trump. I can't believe these are our choices.

The Iowa debacle in 2020 has a lot to do with it. Many Democrats feel that Iowa and New Hampshire are not diverse enough or representative of the country as a whole enough to justify their going first and launching a candidate who may flame out later.Matt wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 5:42 pmThe timing is very odd - we're told Biden is fit to serve and intends to run for reelection. Just because an incumbent is running doesn’t mean they don’t consider their schedule either. They can’t not do that really… what if the incumbent suddenly isn’t? What if there’s a major challenger that emerges?

The foolery in Iowa was very bad. The machines failed, and it was a very embarrassing mark. But putting South Carolina first seems like it is specifically designed to help POC candidates. That certainly bodes well for people like Kamala Harris as opposed to Bernie style politicians.
To me, it just confirms the shenanigans with Clyburn in 2020 which propelled Biden to the top following endorsements by Pete Buttigieg and others. It forced the Bernie wing down.

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Bernie had the lead in 2020 until SC when the back door deals happened for Buttigieg and Klobuchar.

Not true. Bernie would have won by the same margin. NO. NO. NOOOOO. He's an absolute turnoff to moderates... he's a turnoff to me and I'm a moderate Democrat. He would have come off as a screaming crank and been easy to bury.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 12:57 pmNot true. Bernie would have won by the same margin. Re: DNC changes primary schedule
Honestly, the most logical move would be for all states and all parties to just have a single, nationwide primary on one date.
But they'll never do that because the drama and political theatre that comes with the current system is far too lucrative.

Re: DNC changes primary schedule
How much do the various parties pay to have these primaries in all the states?
Re: DNC changes primary schedule
$427 Million from taxpayers spread across the 50 states (funding is at the state level) in 2012.

Maybe I should have been more clear. How much do the REPUBLICAN and DEMOCRAT parties pay each year to hold these primary elections?Rate This wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 4:43 pm$427 Million from taxpayers spread across the 50 states (funding is at the state level) in 2012.

55% of the folks don't even vote in typical primaries... in some cases it's even lower. Why should they be paying just so that one of those parties can figure out who they are going to support in the general election?
Re: DNC changes primary schedule
They don't because political parties don't privately hold their own elections.km1125 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 5:54 pmMaybe I should have been more clear.
