Ron's blaming someone, anyone for the lack of emails. Then he pivots to the "Joseph" email about Cade Cunningham being a superstar. Interesting how Ron always cites Ray Scott to support his Wilt is the GOAT (& that the Pistons should've picked Haliburton) but failed to mention that Scott - just yesterday! - opined that Cunningham will be a superstar.

Ron has some problems with the word, "entrepreneur."

Was that Lanier email from you, Willie?

Buzzr TV is currently running a special titled "A Betty White Christmas."

So we can put aside any concerns that Ron isn't having a Merry Christmas.

Midweek Memories

Saturday, February 25, 2017 (Hour 2)

Interview with Denny McLain.

In which Bob from Plymouth annoys Denny with a question about Justin Verlander and Kate Upton.

I thought maybe you had been a caller, Bobbert. Have you ever called Ron? With each old broadcast you post, I wonder if I'll hear one in which I called. But I think my lifetime ban predated these shows.

I don't think Ron's ever been the same since Dave from Warren broke the sad news of Ron Savage's sudden death. "You ARE Ron Cameron."

Looking forward to the New Year’s Eve and day edition of the Ron Cameron show, I am sure we will hear about his big goals for the new year and how Michigan lacked the guts to only play TCU in the playoffs

I haven't called since the late 1990's. The programs I'm posting run from December 2016 to May 2017, except for that 1997 Farewell Tour show.

Ron reached new depths of shamelessness with his reaction to Ron Savage's death only a few hours earlier. Always has to insert himself into a story.

My e-mail about Justin Verlander and Kate Upton did prompt Ron to make one of his all-time classic "jokes," about two Justin Uptons on the Tigers.

Didn't you just love Alex telling Ron that he was giggling like Dan Dickerson? That must have cut Ron to the bone marrow.

On New Year's Day, I hope Windsor Dave calls in, so that he and Ron can celebrate the fact that it is finally 2023—the last year of "that Combero character's" contract with the Tigers.

Denny told a story about striking out three Red Sox players in a row, with the bases loaded, with Ed Runge umpiring.

I dug around, and this looks like the game that Denny was talking about:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxe ... 8160.shtml

Denny got the most important part right (the three strikeouts), but there were only two people on base, and Ed Runge was working second base.

After listening to Denny make such a big deal out of the Ed Runge part of the story, you wonder how many other factually challenged stories he's told through the years at card shows and in interviews.

Yet, despite his obvious shock - he had just seen Ron Savage on the news the night before! - Ron, always the trouper, recognized the imperative, instilled in him from his earliest days in vaudeville, that the show must always go on.

Best to keep this between us, Bobbert. It was my on-air, fact-checking (of Ron, at least) that drew my lifetime ban.

Wonder if Ron will try to get Roger Faulkner this weekend to talk about Pele? If Roger can't make it, I'm sure soccer fan Chuck from Belleville will call in.
