W27DQ and W31FA Elmhurst, MI are on the air with a color bar test pattern. Elmhurst is a very small community in Cheboygan County. They transmit form the WMKC 102.9 tower in the Harbor Springs Good Hart Cross Village area in Emmet County.

I never knew there was such a thing as Elmhurst in either Cheboygan or Emmet County.

I've never heard of Elmhurst either, and I grew up in Cheboygan. Must be like Brutus (blink and you're through it).

Looked it up... west side of Burt Lake. Population is higher than Mackinac Island!

How are these anything more than hobby stations? Are these even digital?

Can someone explain the monetization?

They are presently operating as ATSC 1.0.

My opinion is that they would be best used as fill in translators in terrain holes. The Channel 45 and WMKC 102.9 tower facilities complement each other in Great Lakes and Inland Lakes shoreline and other terrain holes. I really can't see that there would be much of a market for scrambled subscription wireless cable.
