Hey, some of us like to talk about happenings in other areas of the country, too. Here's the place to do it.

Alt 92.3 NYC flipping to 1010 WINS simulcast

Unread post by Chrocket87 »

I was rather surprised to see this news on the Radioinsight page. The ratings have been a complete disaster for the entirety of 2022, but I thought Audacy loved their national Alt chain of stations. A few questions about this flip:
1) What becomes of WCBS 880? With one of the two newsers going to FM, do the suburban listeners stick with the AM or do they migrate to WINS?
2) With Audacy blowing up a station in market #1, how many of the other underperforming Alts are living on borrowed time? Audacy has a quite a few of them (WSFS/Miami, WQMP/Orlando, and WDZH/Detroit being among the most vulnerable)

WCBS-FM 101.1 and WBBM-FM 96.3 will keep their call letters for the foreseeable future. It was easier to just change 92.3 to WINS-FM. WCFS 105.9 is awkward, but mainly due to having to say "Elmwood Park" once an hour.
