I must say I am presently enjoying the good music selection of WLDR. Everything else aside.

Is Memories FM on 101.9 in the TC area? Over in Manistee, 92.3 and 99.3 are both Memories FM

Yes WLDR is the same format as 99.3. 99.3 comes in TC while 92.3 does not.

Huh, I wonder if this has anything to do with the FCC. otherwise his radio stations are the equivalent of cars up on blocks in the front yard.

I had the chance to hear WLDR today. Welcome back 1982! I am sure they are cheering at the nursing homes.

They even have a live morning DJ. Given the number of morning shows left unpaid and unemployed abruptly, I hope this guy is saving his pennies.

STA 880 W H, 880 W V, ANT COL 16.5 METERS AGL, HAAT -36.2 METERS. They have a few months left on the STA.

I hope the FCC doesn't delete the license, as it is a valuable facility, and much better than many others in the market. If it goes down, radio may die before it comes back on the air due to comparative offers and the fights that go with the territory, dragging out years. It wouldn't be a bad idea to sell it though.
Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Are they running on an Exciter or about 12 watts? They're also not using wldr's ID in the top of the hour.

WNMC operated with a similar facility before they moved out West of Traverse City. They were 600 watts with a Minus HAAT, which means that the Center of Radiation is below all of the surrounding terrain from 3 to 16 km (2 to 10 miles) in toto.

WNMC remains 600 watts. WLDR remains a 100,000 watt station and I can't pick it up in a third of the Traverse City area.

I misspoke. It was just 150 WATTS from -88 FEET HAAT (-27 METERS HAAT).

WLDR is not operating at anywhere near 100000 watts. But 880 WATTS should be better than 150 WATTS.

WNMC also changed frequencies from 90.9 to 90.7, most likely to accommodate a mutual upgrade with WOLW 91.1 Cadillac. Can't find the paper trail for that online.

Les Biederman was apparently on the Board of Directors of the College, which is why that he had to sign off as not being involved in the application. It's on the History Card at the above link.

WOLW still has that null aimed right at the Northwestern Michigan College campus. They only send 2kW in the direction of Traverse City while Big Rapids, Cadillac, Ludington, and Manistee all get the full 50kW sent their way. With WNMC now on 90.7, I think WOLW could go 50kW nondirectional (or maybe even 100kW nondirectional as their HAAT is 213 meters).

I pulled up WLDR's STA and their temporary site is at the SW Bay Shore Drive studios/offices, so it's very close to lake level and much lower than the other stations' towers
