Only 20% In Michigan
Only 20% In Michigan
That doesn't seem like a lot...
https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations
According to the CDC Covid-19 distribution chart, only 20% of the available vaccines shipped to the State of Michigan have actually been given to people. Why is that? Our neighbors to the south in Ohio sit at a 45% delivery rate.
One can bet if there was a way to hang this on Trump, it would lead every news story. This is placed squarely on Whitmer and you can hear the crickets...

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

In my city, the hospital, health department, community health coop, and Goodwill and 2 private practices are getting deliveries. The state had nothing to do with coordinating this.

“The state does have their rules,” said Dr. Lorinser. “Their rules are we can not go to 1B unless we get permission from the state.”
Dr. Lorinser saying anyone that’s not in ‘Phase 1a’ cannot be vaccinated, until they receive the green light.
The state health department wants to keep the state in the same stage of distribution.
“They are trying to keep the state in sync,” said Dr. Lorinser.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is in charge of vaccine distribution and the administration thereof. Who does the MDOHHS report to?
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
Re: Only 20% In Michigan
MDHHS only manages distribution to some of the resources. Everything comes from CDC directive.

More red tape is given to blue states.
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

I agree with Matt and Bryce. Those in the high-risk professions have had sufficient time to get their first dosage at this juncture.
Definitely time to open it up to 1B. There is no excuse for the Michigan DHHS not doing so. Crickets from Whitmer on this issue, just like the nursing home deaths over the spring & summer of 2020.

All residents age 65 and older starting next week can now receive the vaccine. I was happy to learn of that, but I still think the scope is too narrow.

That's on paper only. My parents have found that policy to be nothing more than window dressing as they have been unsuccessful in making an appointment with either their county health department or any of the regional hospital systems in the area.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 6:32 pmAll residents age 65 and older starting next week can now receive the vaccine. They opened it up to too many too soon - the systems in place to inoculate health care workers are woefully lacking in being able to take care of this next group. Presently, it's a disaster with demand completely overwhelming the ability to organize and distribute the supply.

Mark Hackel on the reality on the ground in Macomb County. An estimated 175,000 people in group 1B and they are getting 1,000 does per week from the state. At that rate, they'll finish with 1B sometime about May, 2024.

Re: Only 20% In Michigan
Hackel pulling no punches and is really angry with the governor for this week's premature announcement - at least in terms of the preparedness level of the state in fulfilling the demand of what was opened on Wednesday.
This is a disaster. Whitmer needs to do better.

Re: Only 20% In Michigan
Finally, some leadership from the Federal Government. We are out of vaccine in our area, it's all been allotted.
WASHINGTON — In a sharp break with the Trump administration, President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. intends to release nearly all available doses of the coronavirus vaccine soon after he is inaugurated, rather than hold back millions of vials to guarantee second doses will be available.
The decision is part of an aggressive effort to “to ensure the Americans who need it most get it as soon as possible,” the Biden transition team said on Friday. The vaccination plan, to be formally unveiled next week, also will include federally run vaccination sites in places like high school gyms and sports stadiums, and mobile units to reach high-risk populations.
The president-elect has vowed to get “at least 100 million Covid vaccine shots into the arms of the American people” during his first 100 days in office.
The decision to release the vast majority of vaccine doses set off a sharp debate among public health experts. The two vaccines that have received emergency approval each require two doses, and the Trump administration has so far been holding back about half of its supply to ensure that booster doses will be available for those already inoculated.
