Why would you need to rescan for a 3.0 station, unless you have a 3.0 receiver?
Effective today at 10AM (right now), channel 20 will disappear on TV sets that people use antennas to receive the local stations.
Some of the other channels may have some new sub-channels, but other than that, why would you need to rescan?

The former main channel for WMYD known as 20.1 is now being broadcast on WKBD's transmitter as 20.1. They're sharing the channel now that WMYD is 3.0.
I didn't have to rescan my TV to see the new 20.1.

You'll do a scan to receive the latest list of ATSC 1.0 channels and subchannels.
When your scan reaches RF channel 25, it will receive both WXYZ and WMYD broadcasting on that same RF channel, but your TV will show them as 7.1 and 20.1.
When your scan reaches channel 31, your set will not recognize it as an ATSC signal, and the channel will not be stored (unless you've managed to get your hands on an ATSC 3.0 device.
One caveat could be the loss of one or more subchannels. They'll either drop a subchannel or two, or compress a lot of subchannels to a 480i picture that looks like 120i.

They're renting bandwidth from CBS?

WMYD 20.1 ATSC 1.0 is on WXYZ, 20.2 is on WDIV, 20.3 is on WJBK.
I see duplicates on my receiver right now.
Soon they will shutoff the actual WMYD feeds and start the process of playing around with ATSC 3.0
I expect to have to rescan my box to get rid of the dead feeds, but we will see. Another TV doesn’t see the duplicates, so I expect a rescan there will be needed.

I see nothing on RF31 anymore.

I just did another rescan and have 20.1, 20.2, 20.3.

Yup, so do I.
Rescanned both TVs and I see the new feeds from WXYZ, WJBK and WDIV for 20.1, 20.2 and 20.3.
Expect another one soon as WXYZ moves a subchannel or two off from RF25 elsewhere...like WKBD.

I had to rescan on two TVs to be able to pick them up on their new channels, but got them OK.
At one point I was still picking up a 31.1 but with no video or sound

My Channel Master DVR lets me scan individual channels, and I was curious if I would see a signal, but not be able to lock it in. But yes it can't even tell there is a signal on that channel.innate-in-you wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 7:51 pmWholly different modulation system.
It may be there, but you'll need an ATSC 3.0 tuner or dongle to watch it.
I will have to wait for a decent ATSC 3.0 tuner or DVR combo to come out. Hopefully some will hit the market in 2021.

The stations that run a ATSC 3.0 feed have to simulcast it in ATSC 1.0 for five years, per FCC rules. I’m definitely in no rush.szmigiel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 6:30 amMy Channel Master DVR lets me scan individual channels, and I was curious if I would see a signal, but not be able to lock it in. Ok. I don’t know much of these things, however, I do have an ATSC 3.0 tuner on my Sony X900H. In looking at the signal diagnostic affer a rescan on Dec. 7th, it shows this:
20.1 - Physical Channel 25 - Modulation 8VSB - 539.994 MHz
20.2 - Physical Channel 32 - Modulation 8VSB - 580.993 MHz
20.3 - Physical Channel 7 - Modulation 8VSB - 176.998 MHz
Am I getting the re-mapped 1.0, the new 3.0, or a mix of both?
