Fire Up, Chips! I mean, they will be fired up with those 104 fevers.
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Exploitation of Injuns? What a ridiculous comment. The employees are members of the general public.
Casino gambling at mega casinos such as this one generates tens of millions in net profits for the tribe annually.

Re: Soaring Eagle to stay open
Casinos help Native Americans, but what about casinos hurting compulsive gamblers? So it's OK for the Native Americans to exploit compulsive gamblers, as long as there are reparations to Native Americans involved? The whole thing was messed up from the beginning. We allowed US jobs to be outsourced, and then we tried to make up for it with casino jobs? And then there was some convoluted law that only allowed Native Americans to run casinos?
This is messed up on SO MANY LEVELS!
A large percentage of Native Americans don't want anything to do with reservations. They realize they are much happier just being Americans. Instead of exploiting things like Native American preferences, like they used to do with new radio allotment channel competing applications, they just want to be AMERICANS!

See the red men rolling around in Rolls-Royces? Nope! They’re back in a trailer on the reservation drugged up, boozed up, and told to shut up. I taught a two semester college course on the current living conditions of Native Americans who people believe are being helped by casinos.
Want to see people living large on the casino? It’s the white men who said they would help “manage” the casinos. HA!!!

Lovin' may go "off the reservation" with some of their postings (I had to say that sorry) but this post is spot on.lovinlife101 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 7:39 amAs someone 1/4 Ojibwe, I’ll pretend you’re just ignorant to the fact that the casino money doesn’t get to the people it’s “intended” for.

I have family works for the Ilitches. Several years back, when Papa Mike was still alive, the family was wanting to get involved in setting up a casino in New York state somewhere.
What Lovin' is saying pretty much aligns with what my family was saying.

Re: Soaring Eagle to stay open
I assumed the exploitation remark was in reference to the employees. I stand corrected and am not surprised the rank-and-file tribe members see little more than peanuts from casino income.

Re: Soaring Eagle to stay open
Tribal members in Mt. Pleasant do just fine. Each adult member, that lives on the reservation, receives a payment bi weekly based on casino revenue. These payments reached a high of $118,000.00 for one year a while back. The amount has been lowered in recent years due to increasing competition from other tribal casinos.
The last I remember, each adult member was getting about $41,000.00 per year. So a husband and wife could be making 82,000.00 per year and never have to leave home.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Holy crap - that's an absolute gravy train!Tribal members in Mt. Pleasant do just fine. Each adult member, that lives on the reservation, receives a payment bi weekly based on casino revenue. I'm sure the Gun Lake Casino and Firekeepers have both eaten into their revenue quite significantly.
When Gun Lake's second expansion is completed next summer, gaming square footage will be on par with Mount Pleasant if not slightly larger. Already, the Gun Lake casino's gaming floor encompasses more than 150,000 square feet.
There's really no reason to drive from, say, the Grand Rapids area to gamble at Soaring Eagle anymore - unless one wishes to make a weekend getaway out of it or wishes to catch a summer concert. Driving to Mt. Pleasant from G.R. is a pain in the ass!
The massive expansion of Gun Lake has probably taken a lot of traffic away from Firekeepers, too. Folks in Kalamazoo now have two large casinos within a 25 minute drive. People in the G.R. area no longer have a reason to drive to Battle Creek.

I'd imagine that once the casino gets built and opens in Muskegon, that'll be that much more draw away from Soaring Eagle.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 5:51 pm\There's really no reason to drive from, say, the Grand Rapids area to gamble at Soaring Eagle anymore - unless one wishes to make a weekend getaway out of it or wishes to catch a summer concert.
