Ron Cameron
Re: Ron Cameron
He’s proud to say he’s never done any prep work for any of his shows. As I suspected, Ron has never changed. Which again begs the question of what was going on in the ‘70s that this guy ever had an afternoon slot on a prominent station.

Re: Ron Cameron
I would have been shocked if he said he did any prep work. It clearly obvious that he wings every show.
Re: Ron Cameron
Dave from Warren is the reigning holder of the title of Ron's most clueless caller.
Re: Ron Cameron
I get that he doesn’t prep for this ridiculous show, but that he’s never prepped for any show in his career, including his short-lived one at WXYZ, is another matter.

Re: Ron Cameron
A sports talk show in the 70's and early 80's was really the only show in town. There was no 24-7 sports shows, no ESPN in the 70's really no competition. This was really unique and listening to some opinionated guy on the radio got good ratings. I remember as a kid listening intently to the 6:15pm and 11:15pm sports wrap on WJR and it was only 15 minutes but thats where you got your latest and greatest. If you wanted to get some recent scores, I remember you could call sportsline which was a 1-900 number that they would charge you like 50 cents for the first 2 minutes to get the box scores of the games. My Dad would be surprised at times when he got the phone bill. Ron was on the wave back then.

Ron is always saying he is so busy. What is he so busy with. His radio show is 4 hours a week.He does no prep work.He lives in his hotel so he has no yard work or up keep of a home.He does no cooking. He is a 75 year old man who most likely spends his time on the couch watching tv.

Re: Ron Cameron
He does claim to workout for 2 hours a day and then he's probably trying to shake down local business' for free meals. I noticed he has a new commercial for a Mexican restaurant on 17 and Mound. I wonder how many restaurants he visits a day trying to get Ad money?Kidcat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 3:41 pm Ron is always saying he is so busy. What is he so busy with. His radio show is 4 hours a week.He does no prep work.He lives in his hotel so he has no yard work or up keep of a home.He does no cooking. He is a 75 year old man who most likely spends his time on the couch watching tv.
I was a bit surprised when a caller asked Ron who the Wings should draft and he said a couple names. Must have been in today's newspaper or something.
Re: Ron Cameron
For me, one of the highlights of today's show was when the Hat Man called in and said he was good friends with Jukebox John. Moments like that move Ron's show further into the realm of self-parody. Would love to hear the nicknames that are used by all his acquaintances—Hat Man, Jukebox John, Gutter Ball Tony, Mr. Positive, Cowboy from Windsor...
Re: Ron Cameron
lol is this monstrosity available anywhere online to download. I'm dying to hear it. Haven't heard Ron since WDFN.
Re: Ron Cameron
Gertner, Ron has been rather tame of late, as he's not been fighting on air with a producer or screener, but if you want to get a fuller measure of the epic trainwreck his show can be, I refer you to some of podcasts of Ron's WDTK show (from the end of last year through the first week of this year) that are still on the station's site:

Re: Ron Cameron
As hard as this may be to believe, I am fairly sure Ron briefly owned a radio station in Valdosta, GA. This would have been around the same time I was working in Orlando. It was one of Chuck Harder's old stations. It lasted about as long as one of Ron's imaginary restaurants.

Re: Ron Cameron
Here is the thing that surprises me. He has these new callers come out nowhere.Yesterday we had Hatman and Jukebox John. Last week he had Nancy. I'm starting to think Ron has a much bigger loyal following than we all think. Ron might have created a cult without knowing it.Bobbert wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 5:01 pm For me, one of the highlights of today's show was when the Hat Man called in and said he was good friends with Jukebox John. Re: Ron Cameron
Terry Foster as a guest for the 2nd hour? Ron is amping up his game
Re: Ron Cameron
Will Ron ask Terry when he first started listening to him? He already brought that up, because everything comes back to Ron.
