Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Valley State University files a $50,000 deal to buy the Grand Rapids, MI-licensed W237CZ at 95.3 FM from Goodrich Radio. The filing says the translator will simulcast the University’s news-talk/jazz WGVU-FM (88.5). It also owns “Real Oldies 1480” WGVU in the Grand Rapids market.

Grand Valley only bought the 95.3 translator. I have no idea if Mr. Goodrich is selling off any of his other properties. I'm guessing his 102.5 translator, might be of interest to someone else. (it's been transmitting nothing but dead air again for the past several weeks.) The 1680 AM frequency is basically worthless.

It's my understanding everything is for sale. 102.5 can't be separated from the AM as it was part of the AM Revitalization (haha). It's tied to the license forever otherwise GVSU would have jumped on that one also. If someone wants 102.5 they need to purchase 1680. If 1680 shuts down then 102.5 goes with it.

GVSU could purchase 102.5 and simply change the AM station it translates.

I'm pretty sure you can't change the associated station of a translator that was assigned under the AM Revitalization.

Actually, 102.5 is only tied to 1680 for 4 years from the date it was licensed. The translator was granted its current license on 3/7/17. They can be separated as soon as next year.
