New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

God, he was great. What an arm, and such a good outfielder. This has to be one of my earliest memories...I was 6, but can remember watching the game with my dad so clearly....

I remember the headline and photo as if it was yesterday; I was also six at the time. I didn't know what a broken collarbone meant in the grand scheme of things, but I knew it wasn't good. That clutch single to right-field in Game 5 of the '68 World Series, along with Horton's throw to Freehan cutting down Lou Brock at the plate, may have been the turning point of the series. (sigh) One of Detroit's and baseball's all-time greats!Honeyman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 6:54 pm God, he was great. What an arm, and such a good outfielder.
