Does anyone bother to watch CW 46’s Community Wide program?
The then News Director claimed it was a show that would highlight great journalism (extended reports on issues facing our communities) and build relationships with organizations that would make us media partners for big community events.
So, 3 years into this “experiment” what are the results? It’s dreaded by anchors and producers who have to work on the show. From a story perspective, we just re-rack old stories. Has it changed the event/media partnership landscape? Well, we recently did a long segment on Zehnder’s Snofest... a TV5 event!!!
By all accounts, 25-66 management fails to execute a clear strategy then it fails to deliver. In the end, we are asked to do more with less. Another example about why things won’t soon change with the current management in place.
Community Wide failure?
Re: Community Wide failure?
Just like Newsmaker. The only people that watched it were the guests and MCR.sinklair wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 6:39 pm Does anyone bother to watch CW 46’s Community Wide program?

Re: Community Wide failure?
Yep, which is my point. Why keep putting all the time and effort into a program which has no viewership, no advertising revenue and no point of difference. It’s time to say this experiment has failed and move on to a better model.
Re: Community Wide failure?
Because. I believe it is required that stations have a community forum type of program.
Re: Community Wide failure?
That is not the case. The FCC stopped requiring public affair shows and community engagement initiated more than a decade ago. Now we are required to post the community issues covered in our programming and post that information online to prove that we are serving in the public interest.
Community Wide is just a waste of everybody’s time and effort. It would be better for our viewers if we just spent more time covering the real news that our viewers care about.

Re: Community Wide failure?
There was a time when Community Wide was actually relevant. We did an episode devoted to the opioid crisis and won awards for the in-depth coverage. But those days —as Harry Carey would say — are “looooong goooone!”
