Another horrendous book for Q105

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

The fact Cumulus hasn't gone all-Christmas on 105.5 is asinine.
I would love to see 105.5 flip to All-Christmas. It would give the River a run for its money. When 98.3 was still AC as My 98.3 a few years ago, I thought their playlist was better than IHeart's generic corporate playlist. Not sure if 98.3's playlist was local or Cumulus Corporate. I'm thinking the latter.

I do have to say... very tight automation with the aux marks. They time pinch song for excitement. Imaging is a little monotone and almost bossy, and has a record-distorted sound, that nobody has figured out, just like K100 has.

But from a pro standpoint, they're doing everything right... except a few minor things. Also... new tracks "to add to your playlist" need to be mentioned... voice appropriate for intro tempo only, not total song. Let the music set the flow, not the imaging.

I'll give credit where it's due, IMO this is the best 105.5 has sounded in a long time. Compare it to whatever the hell was going on back around 2014ish, it's worlds better.

Heard a song that was way too pinched this morning. "You Need To Calm Down" is way too fast. Pinch songs 4% or less, as a general rule! I also did not hear Johnny D, which is great! Like Russ much better in Johnny's old slot. Mixed on Reboot not having news. They, Eric and Floyd... with guests and callers gossip allot anyhow. If it was compelling subjects, it would be a great show.

Best to drop the "low class Toledoans" sweeper. A) Brings Toledo back to the Carty vs billboard days (Loserville). B) Makes it sound like Cumulus only hires east side trash.

The MD also needs to not type in caps. Example: sONG tITLES sHOULD nOT lOOK tHIS wAY!

Ok, here's a big issue...

Adult spots. Things such as Pleasure 365, Trojan man, strip club spots. Been hearing those all day now. They might as well play the 6 yr old version of "Good as Hell." Not so sure
females 35-54's want to hear those spots.

Something else I notice as I am listening all day for the past few days.... too tight of a playlist. Too few songs in rotation. Enough with "I Don't Care," "Only Human," "Seniorita," and the other songs that we hear every 40 minutes. The Golds are the same ones, every few hours. Listen for a couple of days or at work, you notice the repetition. If you don't have AT LEAST 300 spinning titles, hang it up and become all talk!

My last 2 observations are pretty big things.

Rap song is on, other than Lizzo. A conservative town like Toledo does not do rap, unless on a black formatted station. They really didn't even like it in country either.

Also, per the "More music for BG" sweep... all of my friends' radios do not decode the stereo pilot, unless in the car. It is hard to get in buildings down there, which is why I often hear Mix 96.7 Fostoria, when I'm there.

the two most common stations that I hear in BG are the two closest: 107.7 The Wolf (Arby's background music) and 93.5 WRQN. Heard 92.5 rather than 105.5 in a sandwich shop, but you don't even hear the USA's lowest powered HD-FM radio station: WBGU-FM (yes, they 'won' an HD encoder for free from iBiquity in some contest a while back, and it works about half the time, until you reach the city limits!).
When Grand Rapids can have 3 FM Christmas stations, why doesn't anybody, hell, even an AM, take on the River and their putrid small playlist in the Toledo market?

Yeah... The Arby's in BG does play the wolf all the time. Subway by my house, always has WRQN on.

RQN's TX is @ 582 and Dixie Hwy. The Wolf (WPFX) is about 1 mile south of there. Reception in a building is not an issue for either. For Q105, it is. TX is @ Westwood and Nebraska, where channel 48 and the wireless cable company used to be. Wattage is also an issue. Got to protect 105.5 in Flint and Sidney! 2,000 extra watts (to make just over 6,000 watts) should not be an issue. Q105 is only 4,300 watts (only 602 watts Hybrid Digital). Wonder why Cumulus does not apply for a slight power increase.

Another issue... how conservative Wood County is. Let's face it, Bowling Green pretends it's a progressive town, with nothing to back that claim up, other than Bob Latta's 2nd office. That explains why you do not hear 92.5 or 101.5. Too many of us "homosexuals" on those. Am shocked that I do not hear K100, when down that way.

Curious thing....

Monday, December 16, 2019:

12:00 WQQO FM & HD1 Legal ID
Jonas Brothers - Only Human

12:03 WQQO FM & HD1 Legal ID
Jonas Brothers - Only Human

Wondered what happened.

Also noticed a Legal ID at 7:13 am this morning (Sunday). Someone forgot to add "@" in the media field of the Legal within Stratus, to time correct the Top Hour Legal.

K100's numbers are slipping; 92.5 Kiss FM just scored its strongest showing in a long time.

https://ratings.radio-online.com/content/arb097

Kiss, River, K100, WIOT, WRQN, WXKR and probably Mix 95.7 are the only stations worth a damn in T-Town. The other stations are only good for "freebie" buys and clearing nationally placed ads.

Not really surprised about K100 slipping. After the death of Harvey Steele nearly 2 years ago, and Gary Shores's retirement back in May, people aren't tuning to in to Cliff Smithers and Lyn Casye in droves compared to the former. I think that NashIcon and 103.7's revamped format is taking away listeners who used to listen to K100.

Agree that the other stations besides the ones you mentioned are good for only national ads.

I predict the River will get their best ratings of the year, as they're the only station in the market that plays Christmas.

That awful fake local sports show with Bob Frantz got dropped from 106.5, in favor of running ESPN Radio 23 hours a day weekdays unless the Buckeyes play, and the ratings actually went up. That's funny.

Hey Q105... Stop using the same traffic report over and over! Noticed that the last few days. No wonder why your competitor is beating your ass! Also, the "tongue and cheeck" sweepers all day do not come off well. Eric is NOT at all funny, so the sweepers do not fit. I also see the "female callers only" rule has returned. Seriously? One of these days, some non-binary person will sue your ass for that!

Another thought... 2 back to back car sponsors at the top hour in AM drive? Shocked neither one pulled their sponsorships. Someone in back clearly is not on their game with this.
