Most likely "Debut," signifying the song was a new entry that week.

Did this station report to any trade publications (Billboard, R&R, Gavin Report etc.)?

The "D" was definitely “Debut”.

We reported to Gavin pretty much the whole time. Billboard on and off. R&R after they reissued that Arbitron that was screwed up.

That was our in house survey, but it was distributed around the Tri-Cities. The guys called the record stores (remember them?) to get area sales info.

I checked the searchable data from the chart, and the "D" is shown as "--", which would be an unpreviewed debut. The previewed debuts are usually shown as "PH" (Pick Hit) or "HB" (Hit Bound) in the LW column when they enter the numbered chart positions. Do you have a stash of Foxy 101 Surveys?

I was going through the History of 100.9 Pinconning, and it has had NINE sets of call letters since the CP was issued.

Can anyone think of any stations in the region with more callsigns? 1580 and 92.1 St. Johns would be likely contenders.

I just looked at the FCC web site and everything about the station ownership and call signs is wrong. When we purchased the construction permit in 1983, it had call sign WHFU. It stood for We're Here For U.

We built the station out in an empty building and went on air 11/1983 as 'Foxy 101' (WFXZ), Top 40/CHR format leaning toward women. Later after a couple years when WIOG went live and started giving away money to buy the ratings, we move more toward rock as "Hot Rockin' Foxy 101".

In 1985 we made a format switch to Country and I changed the call sign to WWRM, as 'Warm Country 101'. After just a year we switched back to CHR as Foxy 101, until we sold the station in early summer 1987.

The new owners kept the station off the air for a few months and changed the call sign to WLFS with a new format of soft rock using Transtar's satellite "Format 41" when they returned to the air in August 1987. The station took a major dive right out of the rating book with this format. These owners also owned the rock station WKQZ in Midland at that time.

After selling the station in 1987, I moved to Florida and didn't keep up with what they were doing or the format changes with ownership changes.

Looking at Michiguide listings it shows several call sign changes:
WLFS: 8/3/1987
WMJT: 12/12/1990
WBTZ: 6/1/1992
WMJK: 4/8/1995
WYLZ: 3/19/1999
WLUN: 3/31/2008

So with this list and the early call signs I count a total of at least 9 different call signs that were on this station at one time or another.

Yes on WLFS! lol. It was a cart carousel in the kitchen of WKQZ when Bouvier's owned it, at least in 1989-90 it was.
