Re: 97.1
That was a national CBS Radio host from the east coast. He actually does a decent show, but he's an older gentleman with a clear accent and a bit of a speech impediment. Many employers treated July 3 like a holiday since the 4th is on a Saturday (today). Of course, big radio sometimes likes to use ...

Re: TV internet precursor
Are you talking about something that was interactive, were you could send information "up" and get something back? There were several systems that were in use in cable systems in the early 80's, but only the QUBE system was interactive. The others relied on just character generators for different c...

Re: TV internet precursor
Yeah that's a lot closer to what I was thinking about. But I think it was simply called teletext on the tv set I was watching.Radiofreewill wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 2:59 amYou're probably thinking of Teletext. It was widely available in Europe, but never really caught on in North America. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teletext

TV internet precursor
I was thinking about this the other day and I hadn't thought about it for years. Does anyone remember back in the late '80s maybe early '90s. Some TVs had functionality where you could get news, weather, sports scores, horoscopes etc right on the screen on demand. My grandparents had a TV like this b...

Re: Karsch & Anderson Champ & Chump Of The Week
I agree, I have yet to hear why it was necessary to load up with toilet paper other than it was a social media thing. People are like cattle they tend to follow each other, very sad. I think people are afraid that Trump is going to order everyone to shelter in place in their homesfor 6 months and n...

I think I found my new favorite source for beautiful music. Check out this website. It's for the Seeburg 1000 which was a background music player popular in the 60s. They even have an app and they stream the music 24 hours a day. Fantastic.

Either her departure wasn't immediate or something happened to where she is still at ABC 12 because she just filed a report about the Target break in today. https://www.abc12.com/content/news/Sagi ... 59161.html

Re: 2020 predictions
I agree that a shake-up in the WJR weekday schedule will occur at some point in 2020. Look for Ben Shapiro to be onboarded. Guy Gordon will be removed as an afternoon drive time host. Not confident enough to say he'll disappear from WJR completely. (More Cumulus prediction below.) WGPR will be sold...

Re: Warren Pierce
I haven't listened to Warren Pierce on his WJR morning show in years. I just had the news on and Joe Gagnon (the Appliance Doctor who was on WJR for many years) popped on during a commercial break and said something to the effect "I'm back Saturdays from 5-7" so I looked on WJR's website for the pr...

Re: Which Metro Detroit cities are declining and which are improving?
I forgot to name one for my improving column: Clawson. Here's another one for my declining column: Canton. Hell, I'll add Sterling Heights to the "declining" list, too! South end of the city is looking a little rough. Van Dyke thoroughfare isn't what it used to be, and if Lakeside Mall becomes the ...

Re: Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethons
Twenty four hours of 1950s Vegas schtick just wasn't attracting the audience it used to. And Jerry's rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" got more disjointed every year. You just never knew at what point in the song he'd break down. Vegas gamblers probably made book on it. The local market breaks...

Re: JIM PRICE STINKS!!!
I suffered through the last 4 innings of tonight's game listening to Dickerson and Price. Of course, a large part of the pain was hearing the Tigers do everything they could to try to blow a big lead. However, I've determined that although Price will always be Price, there are a few simple tweaks t...
