Re: Grammy's Rant

Rock and Roll music and Pop Music, pretty much one in the same until the late 60's-early 70's when the top 40 format began to splinter and gave birth to the AOR and A/C formats.

Re: WLAV Tower Relocation

I think the cold weather and the snow cover may have something to do with LAV's better signal lately. I've heared some of the lower power FM's and pirate stations in places I don't usually hear them. I'm also getting some HD FM signals in the house that I don't usually hear. The noise floor on the F...

Re: Grammy's Rant

I would beg to differ that Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder don't deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They've been members for over 30 years and in the 60's and 70's their music was considered to be "part" of the over all Rock and Roll music scene. In fact, if it wasn't for the fusion ...

Re: 97.3 Grand Rapids shut down

As for WDEE, I noticed up in Newaygo over the weekend that their signal wasn't nearly as good as it normally is. It's usually the dominant signal on 97.3, but it was full of holes when I listened this past weekend.

Re: Songs Banned By WABC And WLS

While censorship does suck, not playing a record is a business decision, not censorship. Censorship is when the government tells you that a record can't be played. The government tried that with Louie, Louie. Didn't work. Back to the topic. WLS didn't play several songs during their top 40 run that ...

Re: New Afternoon Host AM 1480/850

The new afternoon host at Real Oldies 1480/850 is Rob Sanford. He has been on the air since January 2. Rob replaces long time afternoon host Tom Wyant who decided to retire in December. Tom is a great guy and is missed at Real Oldies. We wish him all the the best in his retirement. Rob is the perman...

Re: What ever happened to AM 1490 Montaque

Wikipedia is in error saying the station signed on in 1979. It's been on the air since at least the early 60's. When I worked there it was on White Lake Drive about 2 miles west of the U.S.31 exit. It was in an old house right where the rail road tracks cross White Lake Road. I believe it would now ...

Re: What ever happened to AM 1490 Montaque

By 1981-82 the stations were separate. Sold in 1978 to 2 different parties. At the time I was working there the stations also had 2 different but similar call signs. It was WLRC-AM and WLRQ-FM.

I had the pleasure? of working at 1490 in Whitehall in the mid 70's. It was teamed up with 95.3FM as a simulcast and was called Super Q after Super CFL in Chicago. The owner of the station at the time was Ralph Trieger who was sales manager at WCFL in Chicago. I was the program director of this Rock...

Re: CFZM Zoomer Radio 740

I listen to 740 quite a bit. I even have a button set for them on all my car radios. Puts a good solid signal into West Michigan almost every night. Great stuff that you don't find on the radio much anymore.
