Re: The Breeze Drifts Away

93.1 the River? Hmm...if you're talking about wanting them to go AAA, it might not do as well as we hope it would. I posed a question about it here sometime either this year or last, and the consensus was that the audience simply isn't there for it in Metro Detroit (excluding Ann Arbor). Soft AC? Ma...

Re: Hey, 93.9...

A Grand Rapids station fans of the old 93.9 The River may enjoy: http://wklq.tunegenie.com/ A little more 80s than 93.9, but it's decent. Definitely more on the Indy side which I like. Considering it’s a clone of 107.1, it shouldn’t be surprising. Loved listening to it in GR when I was up there ear...

Hey, 93.9...

107.1 in Ann Arbor fights it out with a K Love affiliate over here. Neither wins. It's not able to listen to it easily here in Warren. Besides, I had heard that 107.1 ditched their indy adult alternative format for light rock? Nope, still AAA, and even so, I heard "Twice As Hard" by the Black Crowe...

98.7 Alternative!

Whoever the genius is that’s messing around with the processing needs to stop. Tired of fucking with the EQ settings on my radio (it’s usually kept at a flat setting, however that doesn’t work for 98.7; it sounds like absolute garbage). Wishing we had gotten an XRT clone instead. I know it would’ve ...

RIP 89X

Huh... I thought 93.1 was still a dumpster fire... EDIT: 93.1 went from a 3.7 last month to a 2.6. Holy shit, I’m somewhat surprised it got that high. It hovered around the 2’s for a while... Interested to see how 98.7 does once the dust settles... I can probably take a guess, unfortunately. Sent fr...

98.7 Alternative!

Damn, MW. They oughta let you program it. Not a single artist on that list I wouldn’t listen to. I know someone at Entercom Detroit is reading this; THESE are the artists you should be playing in addition to what you have now. fuzzpower, I gotta disagree with you on the Green Day. Personally, I’d li...

Re: 89X Memories

Cristina was amazing. Legitimately knowledgeable about so much classic alternative... and hell, she started as an intern in '91 and was there for most of the station's history, so at the time it was current to her. But she knew what was going on. I remember The Dish. I remember Time Warp on Sunday ...

Did they do something fun when they switched over? Go from Smooth Operator to Green Day in 1 minute?
Wasn't paying that much attention, but I think it was a hard cut from the Christmas music to the new format. First song was "Lose Yourself" (one Eminem song I am absolutely tired of hearing).

Re: RIP 89X

From my understanding, Doug flipped because Cumulus wanted an outlet for Nash, and it was literally their only option. I'm still a little pissed about losing Doug FM. However, the playlist got extremely stale toward the end; the same burnt-to-a-crisp songs every day, just shuffled in a different ord...

Re: RIP 89X

I turned 98.7 back on a little while ago. Hearing some decent gold and after adjusting speaker settings, audio now sounds pretty good. I won't completely write off this station; might be good enough for preset #6 in the car (same one the Breeze occupied before going Xmas music). I mean...if you con...

98.7 Alternative!

Calling it now: it flips to something else in the next three to six months. If this were a harder-edged alt, which, as Mega said would be probably ‘90s centric, I would listen. As it is now? Absolutely not.

98.7 Alternative!

MW — Unfortunately, I have to agree. I’m underwhelmed by what I’ve heard so far, but I'm (barely) hopeful that they fix it up. Not holding my breath.

Waiting for the announcement of the Woody Show any day now... :barf

98.7 Alternative!

If they're considering Billie Eilish "alternative", then someone made a mistake. She’s been considered that for a while...she even gets spins on triple-A stations as well. MW — I have to agree. As much as I like alt, it ain’t gonna work in Detroit again. Guess they don’t know the definition of insa...
