Re: Ron Cameron

Having issues accessing the Board, Rob from Canton, Ron's would-be medical driver, asked me to post this announcement:
Denny's by the airport closed so Big Al Avila has taken his talents to the Cracker Barrel by the airport. He is heading up the day fryer and decorating baked goods.

Re: Ron Cameron

This recent fundraising event, featuring Mickey Lolich, Mickey Stanley, Willie Horton, Jon Warden, Jack Morris, Lance Parrish, Larry Herndon & John Grubb, would've been fertile ground for Ron. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14-SG2rPYIM Nice video. That interview with Mickey Lolich had a nice "Boys ...

Re: Ron Cameron

When Mark Wilson appeared on Ron's show, he always made sure to tell us that the Pistons had not won a playoff game since 2008. Ron and all his listeners already knew that because of the many times Mark had mentioned it in previous appearances. With the Pistons' win last night, Mark will have to ...

We had a lot of fun with it two years ago, on Ron's last Easter show.

Re: Ron Cameron

Seeing the Gretzkys in attendance to honor Alex Ovechkin's record-breaking goal brought to mind the surprising alliance between Ron & Janet to curb Wayne's smoking. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/nhl/news/wow-that-is-a-crazy-stat-894-goals-in-1487-games-for-wayne-gretzky-and-895-goals-in ...

Re: Ron Cameron

The winless start of the Tigers brings to mind Ron's take under similar circumstances. Depending on where he stood with the then-current management, he’d either remind us that the baseball season was a marathon, not a sprint, or lament it was gonna be a long season.

Re: Ron Cameron

As I've oft-noted, I never believed Ron - who somehow never met so many local sports bigwigs, e.g., Flip Saunders, Don Canham - ever spoke to Erik Spoelstra about his grandfather, longtime Detroit News Tigers beat writer, Watson Spoelstra. I think it was a conversation Ron had entirely in his head ...

Re: Ron Cameron

I can just hear Jerry Orbach belting out your excellent version, Bobbert(t)! A wonderful tribute to Ron on the one-year anniversary of his passing. It's worth noting on this solemn occasion that Killian Hayes is finally back in the NBA, after just signing a 10-day contract with the Nets. Ron's keen ...

The reports of its death greatly exaggerated, the latest (February 2025) Yellow Pages (Oakland South Central) arrived in my mailbox today. Would that Ron was still around for me to attempt delivery.

Re: Ron Cameron

On what would have been Ron's 80th birthday, here are parodies of the theme songs of the Paul Henning trilogy of rural TV comedy shows from the 1960s. (Beverly Hillbillies) Come and listen to a story 'Bout a man named Ron A poor Detroit boy, Had some trouble gettin' on. And then one day While he's ...

Re: Ron Cameron

It's a shame Ron missed this upswing in Detroit sports. It would've posed a problem for Ron. The consistent losing of Lions made his failure to ever step foot in Ford Field less of an issue. Same with his "ban" from Comerica. He was not happy with what Scott Harris was doing with the Tigers, not ...
